The Mar Monte Hotel was a lovely place to stay for a girls getaway... it was right across the street from the beach; the restaurants on site were fantastic, we loved the free bikes and beach chairs, and the pool was great. We had a noisy air conditioner the first night and got moved to a new room with a balcony which was lovely. Great stay!

The hotel was more dated than recent reviews noted. Pool was overcrowded with no available chairs and the beach chairs were all reserved by morning. Location was waterview but had to cross the road to get to access point. Breakfast was good and servers were friendly. I would not stay again.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. We did have a problem with the room we were given as there was cat urine smell. They were not able to move us until the next day, but the next day we were given a new upgraded room. I also asked about a discount, and they said we would have to go through Expedia since that’s who we booked through. I didn’t trust that, so I asked if they would refund our parking. They refunded that plus the resort fee. I was happy with this and felt they addressed our concerns. I do think they should update their carpets in the hallways and in the rooms. We are at the restaurant and cafe. The hamburger and caesar salad were delicious!! The granola yogurt with fruit was okay. The yogurt was pretty tart but fruit was tasty and helped the tart taste. Hot tub was fantastic and fitness center was a tad small but it got the job done. Overall, I would stay here again. The staff- front desk and valet-were great!!

We enjoyed our stay overall. The hotel sits directly across from East Beach, and the Spanish-Mexican architecture is beautiful — the exterior and courtyards are genuinely lovely. The interiors are noticeably darker than the outside would suggest, which took some getting used to. The free bike rental was a highlight and a great way to see the waterfront. The valet parking staff were very helpful, though street parking around the hotel was a real challenge, especially on weekends. The pool is on the small side, but the hot tub was fine. Worth knowing about the location: you’re right on the beach, but it’s a 30–40 minute walk to the wharf and the main restaurant and activity area downtown — the bikes helped a lot here. Our main complaint was the AC unit in the room, which was loud. Even after shutting it off at night, it kept making a gurgling noise.
