Staff was very helpful and gave us some great information about the island.

The room was nice but this is an older building and there was definitely mould in the shower. However there were 2 sinks and that was great. Many parts of the hotel are showing their age. We did see the cleaning staff trying to keep the common areas clean. The bar staff were very friendly and did a great job preparing our drinks. The buffet was okay but there were very little options for people with dietary restrictions. The beach area is beautiful and clean. My one major complaint was the smoking. When I researched this hotel, I did not find any details indicating that it was a smoking hotel. There is a designated smoking area but very few people used it. No one at the hotel enforced this rule. It was disgusting to find cigar and cigarette butts in the sand and by the pool. We also found the customer service staff either unwilling or very slow to respond to customer requests. The service staff were all very friendly and helpful even if their english wasn’t the best.

This is my second year at Barcelo and I was very disappointed. The staff was not very nice besides a handful of them. The bed was awful there was still sand on our floor in our room. The TV kept losing signal. The WiFi connection was awful. We would lose it every two minutes. The restaurants were okay. The Italian restaurant L’Olio is amazing! The Arubian Seafood was delicious! The buffet is the worst. Nothing good there ever. I was very disappointed with the stay. The only up side to this resort is the location and price but I still think I paid too much for not receiving anything good.

We booked a suite since we wanted a kitchen also. It saved us money since we are breakfast people since we only eat again for dinner. Eating out is expensive so it cut down the cost for us. We did try the restaurants Muligans and Windows and the breakfast buffet (twice). Towel service for beach and pool was very helpful. We only went to the beach since that's why we went so we didn't use the pools. But they all looked very good with bar available and washrooms near by. The grounds were maintained daily! Very clean! Our view was the golf grounds along the water pond very relaxing sitting out on the deck drinking our coffee and wine in the evening. There is shuttle service to go to Casino or Eagle beach. We didn't rent a car since using a taxi was easy just sometimes the charges were not consistent because of oil prices changes every day. We found everything we wanted right here at the resort without venturing out much. We would definitely go back and have our kids come they will also be entertained with the variety of pool and beach scene and to Golf!.
