"Two black marks against my name on our arrival as we arrived a whole 5 mins before time - and I perched on a stool in the hallway to say hello to the dog to be told I mustn’t sit on the stool as it’s an antique!! "I am writing this review as we are driving away, and I’m sad to be leaving! We only stayed one night and it was far too short. This was the mid-way point in our France trip (fantastic location for visiting Mont Saint Michel), and our one peaceful night in between city-center stays. It was amazing in every sense. The grounds and chateau are meticulously kept and just beautiful. The breakfast (made up of items you self-select upon check in) was abundant and delicious. We stayed in the triple room and it was incredibly spacious, including a huge bathroom with a spacious shower and amazing jetted tub. The hospitality was also unmatched and greatly appreciated. We loved sitting in the grand salon reading and playing cards before check out this morning. We all left feeling full of peace and gratitude. I have no doubt this will be our favorite stay during our trip. Thank you so much!"

"We had breakfast at all the hotels we stayed at. The breakfast here was the least expensive and not quite as good as the others. As a fun note when we arrived late morning we knew it was early for check in. The street in front of the hotel was blocked off for a farmers market. It was a great chance to see the fish, vegetables, breads and cheeses we could have bought. But getting on the plane the next day buying was not an option. We parked a public lot a block away overnight. We took what we needed for one night out rather than drive the car up with our heavy bags. The people running the hotel were very very nice. Great location to see the cathedral and the castle."

"Accommodation is in little semi detached cottages in the gardens, which is very charming Bed very comfortable, breakfast very good and evening meal fine Only downside was having to use a tablet to read the restaurant carte. Fine for those aged 15 and under but at my age these things get difficult Heater in the bathroom was a bit rusty, which took the edge off a gorgeously refurbished hotel We shall visit again,now that I know to head for Pontabault rather than Val St Pere"
