Top spot for a value for money Scarborough stay!

Another great stay, the hotel is brilliant. Location good, free parking nearby, the welcoming staff are excellent. The rooms are a little dated, but spotlessly clean and well maintained. We don’t spend much time there, so all mod cons not essential for us. Excellent value for money and a place we return to again and again.

Excellent value and friendly staff

The parking was conveniently located, and sensibly price at £6 per night. The staff on the front desk were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in good condition, and we were very pleased with our room - Room 101. The breakfast was good value at £10 per person. We will stay at The New Southlands again.

I have to use a mobility and all the automatic door openers which keep them open so you could get through weren't working. The lift was very small and my medium sized scooter would only just fit in, if I removed the basket to get the doors to close.

Hotel nice not best situated area a little run down but quite and not to far a walk from town centre and beach. quite hotel apart from room 102 was small but ok for price paid only with only having single glazed windows could hear Aircon all night was like sleeping with a kettle on boil all night

All fine for a 12 hour stop in Scarborough!

Fit for purpose a single room for a one night stop for a concert. Arrived late left early. Only 12 hours in scarborough ! Love the town great Madness concert at the open air theatre. Bus home from the OAT dropped right outside the hotel. Brilliant

Another Great Stay!

Another guaranteed lovely stay at the New Southlands. We had a quiet, comfortable room and, although dated, is spotlessly clean, well maintained and with new bedding and towels. The staff are so friendly and genuinely want you to have a lovely stay with them, I would always recommend it if you are visiting Scarborough. It's up on the South Cliff, but a short walk to the centre and you can go via the main road which is all flat and accessible. If you are more mobile, it's a short walk to the beautiful gardens, which lead down to the Spa Theatre and the seafront. Plenty of free parking within 5 minutes walk, but the hotel do have a first come first served car park, at an additional cost, if you want your car nearby.

The hotel is an old building. The ground floor is very nicely decorated and carpeted, unfortunately not all floors are the same. The windows are old and rattle. I understand that they can't open fully due to health and safety regulations but when it is hot like it was during our stay you need some air in the room and you could not get this. There is no air conditioning. Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was good with a buffet of; cereals, fruit and yogurt, toast, pastries and full cooked breakfast. The lift was out or order which were were told about before our stay and did not present a problem. Good location and parking on site - charge £6 per day.

Very disappointed. Most expensive hotel we used in our trip, and by far the worst. Lovely reception area and public area, but the ‘superior’ room was like something out of the 1920’s; dark, dreary and in badly need of updating. The furniture was probably taken from a charity auction….Cold water only in the shower. Breakfast 8am to 9.15, so didn’t think that to go at &.50 was unreasonable but it was made clear that we were an inconvenience to the staff as we were among the last guests to eat….think the bus trip residents had left early for their trip. All in all a huge disappointment and glad to leave. Shame really as the hotel has great potential, just needs some good leadership and some investment!
