Our 2 small rooms (bedroom and kitchenette) were very clean and appeared recently painted/decorated. Each room has a window; each window looks at another nearby part of the hotel, despite being only 100 feet from the bay. There are few lodging options in the area, outside the summer season. There is also an unexpected "reservation fee." Consider your choices carefully.

Always love Van Ripers. Check in was difficult as fishing was slow & nobody was home. No answer to phone calls to office & the number on the door; no answer & no return phone call. Almost had to book room across street if owner hadn't driven by when I was at front door. An answering machine for the main number would be great or perhaps just leaving the key in the room like other places do. Love Van Ripers otherwise

Property is set in a quaint town with very nice and hospitable people. The view from our unit was spectacular. Looking at the water across to Canada and fishing boats on the water was a very scenic view.

Enjoyed our visit. Beautiful sunrise, fun to watch the fishing boats come and go. We stopped here as a midway point for exploring the peninsula. Value was good, we had a great room upstairs at the end facing marina. Kitchenette that we forgot to prep to use. A fishing town, so not fancy but was comfortable, clean and friendly.

This is a basic hotel with nothing fancy. Our double-bed room had a kitchenette, breakfast table and very small shower. It is in a very small fishing village.

The room we stayed in has two rooms with two bed, one double and one twin, with a kitchenette that has all the cookware, dishes, and silverware. It was a great stay. Except parking near our room were all taken, but only 20 yards walk. great facility!

This is not a 5 star resort, but that's not why we go here. They cater to fishermen and they provide exactly what we need. A reasonable priced place to stay, basic conviences, supplies we need and friendly knowledgable people. My 1st choice when I come to town.

Basic but very clean!

Very basic older furniture but very clean and spacious! Loved the FULL kitchen with full sized refrigerator and freezer. Doesn't seem that there are a lot of dining options in town so having the full kitchen was great!

Positives: very clean, friendly staff, close to the ocean. Negatives: heat was off & it took about 4 hours for it to get comfortable, overpriced, outdated 80's decor, tv did not work, blinds were torn, area around facility was very trashy.
