"We weren’t sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. We really
Liked the retro decor. Rooms were clean and the area was very quiet. We would definitely recommend this motel."
"This place has been renovated recently. The lighting is great and pretty safe area. I would definitely stay here again. For the price it can’t be beat"
"The suite was a good size for four adults. The rain shower head provided a great shower. The room was clean however they should put a mattress cover on the pull out sofa bed. It had a spot on it. Overall our stay was quiet and peaceful."

10/10 Excellent
"Room and property overall were clean. Breakfast was great - one of the better hotel breakfasts that I've experienced. Wish the pool stayed open a bit later during the summer months. If you get back to the hotel after a long day out, relaxing in the pool or pool side is a plus."
"Very quiet. Clean rooms. The light switch in the bathroom made a popping sound when I turned on the light. It needs some touch up paint here and there but the value is definitely there."
"This felt more like a bed and breakfast. There are very few guests and very few people on staff. And we loved it and will be returning!
The downside: We were somewhat skeptical when we arrived late at night and didn't see any other cars. You have to drive around the old high school to find the hotel rooms and even still there were only 2 or 3 cars. My kid said, "Mom where did you find this place??" But that's because this is an event venue and there wasn't an event going on when we were there. There are only 17 rooms and when we were there only 6 were occupied. The location is an odd combination of business offices that sell wildlife cameras and wild pig traps (seriously), event meeting rooms, and lovely little hotel rooms - that have all been converted from a high school.
The upside: Despite all of that, once the sun rose and we got the lay of the land and met the staff in the breakfast room, we loved it! The food was delicious. The rooms were really lovely, super comfy beds and beautifully decorated, not standard hotel furniture. The staff communicated with us throughout our stay via text messages and were super sweet.
We will be returning to The Tangerine on future visits to Starkville to see our son who is an MSU student!"
