Great location on the cliff top above the beach (fantasticview from the hotel garden. Parking at the hotel too. Room was a good size and enough beds (king and a bunk) for a family of four. The hotel could benefit from a little updating and a lick of paint here or there, but the friendliness of the staff and the delicious breakfast more than made up for it.

Special place to stay

Lovely relaxing place to stay, good location to walk to the beach or into Shanklin and amazing views from the breakfast room, bar area and garden. Breakfasts were really tasty with a good choice of cooked and continental foods, juices and cereals. But what made our stay so special were the Hosts, Brendan and Deborah who were so welcoming, happy to recommend places to visit and eat and always ready to have a chat and a laugh – a big thank you to them and their staff. Definitely recommend The Cliff Hall and hope to return in 2024.

The Cliff Hall Hotel provided an excellent base for a short relaxing break on the Isle of Wight. The owner/managers were much in evidence and were welcoming and helpful without being excessively friendly. The location, being a quiet site above the sea front and within an easy walk of the town's facilities, is ideal.

Such friendly hosts.

Lovely Hotel with superb hosts Brendon and Deborah. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts who were very friendly and accommodating. The Hotel is in the perfect position overlooking the sea. The Bar area and seating outside are perfect to sit and watch all the ships at anchor on their way in and out of Southampton. Only complaint is it is a B and B only. A few snacks on the menu would be a good addition and boost bar takings in the evenings. A good place to return to next year.

Short break at the Cliff Hotel in Shanklin.

The proprietors were very welcoming and attentive. The room was basic but generally satisfactory, we would have appreciated better quality towels. The bed was very comfortable. Older travellers should be aware that eating out opportunities are limited and involve a significant uphill walk on the return.

Gorgeous panoramic views from the bar and front garden and wonderful friendly hosts. Unfortunately the rooms we had were tired and in need of some love. Shower and kettle looked older than me and was a little temperamental. Towels and pillows very thin. Understand with the pandemic that savings need to be made, but felt like too much economising for the price paid.

Great choice!

Lovely hotel in a lovely location. It is so convenient for all of the attractions of Shanklin. Great views from the breakfast room and bar area. The garden is nice also. The staff are super friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Absolutely Beautiful

I stayed here after the COVID restrictions were lifted and it was GREAT! The hosts went out of their way to make sure safety was priority #1 without causing any inconvenience. The room was very nice and clean, with a nice view looking up the coast on the north side of hotel. Breakfast was quite tasty, lounge was nice and the garden was excellent as well. Thank you for having me and I hope your summer was great.

We had a great 2 night stay at this lovely hotel. The owner was very friendly and welcomed us in instantly, explaining the background of the hotel, any necessary covid-19 precautions and giving us recommendations on nice restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was perfect and set us up nicely for the day. The hotel is situated in a perfect location and has suitable parking. Thanks so much. We’ll definitely be back.
