"We have often stayed at thisTimmins hotel. The deterioration is visible and shocking. Last year on our visit to Timmins only one elevator was functioning. This year only one elevator continues to function. The working elevator was dirty. There are numerous security guards on the property at all times. The toaster at breakfast didn't work. Selection was poor. On the positive side, our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Staff was professional and helpful. What made the condition of this hotel stand out was that we stayed at Timmins Holiday Inn Express on one night followed by North Bay Holiday Inn Express the next night. What a difference! The standard in North Bay was far superior."
"The parking situation was a little unsettling. It was very dirty and not very brightly lit.Thankful that the underground was locked & needed to be buzzed into. All 2 star ratings were due to the underground & areas leading to the underground. The room was clean. Lobby was confusing.Giant torn heart needed to be removed. from Valentines day? weird toys on the rocks should be removed. Kind of junks up an otherwise lovely space.
The breakfast was a little disappointing. 2 mornings. 2 different potato options. both raw. Sausage had a weird sour taste. Bacon was great! cooked well. Staff was a little less than impressed with their jobs. Sat on their phones watching whatever. competing volume with the television that they had set to Calgary news (probably would have noticed, if they weren't on their phones) other staff came for breakfast (assuming it was staff, they certainly all knew one another) and they were loud and jovial. Which i don't really mind, but it made us feel like we were intruding on their space. Front desk staff were very courteous. The key card system on the elevators was a little alarming. We nearly left our keycard in the room. Then we realized that should we have locked ourselves out of the room, we wouldn't be able to get to the lobby unless we took the stairs. Same can be said for emergency situations. Needing the key card to exit is not a safe situation. Obviously need the key card to enter, but going down / exiting is not a good thing. Otherwise. Great hotel"
