"Great place to stay, rooms newly renovated, clean amd spacious. Only misses we found was on check-in the front desk staff person was a little gruff and hurried with us, she seemed busy with other things on her mind. The other issue was the breakfast service lacking the standard of a fairmont, slow service and customer confusion, our toast arrived 15 mins beforehand and stone cold by the time rest of breakfast arrived. Server cannot be faulted but definitely we understand the kitchen is far away during construction, but the prices are still full mark so disappointing this was an excuse. As a result the omelette when it finally arrived was quite dry and underwhelming. They took off bill which was considerate and apologetic. Also no HP sauce interesting but not a big deal. We will return as our go to but may go JW as service levels mixed on this visit."
"Paid $30 parking fee and gave front desk my license plate number. Woke up to a $100 parking ticket. Front desk took ticket and said they’d take care of it. Hoping they actually do."
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton South by IHG
8/10 Good
"I have always had success staying at this chain of hotels. When we needed to find last minute accommodations, this hotel popped up with amazing pricing considering it was a busy weekend in Edmonton. The location is great for many activities and dining, and it really doesn't take long to get to other parts of the city because it is so close to major roadways.
The hotel was very clean, the temperature was maintained well (the place we left had no a/c during a heatwave so we needed it), the beds were very comfortable, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast had plenty of different options so those with differeny dietary needs should be able to find something. My only gripe is that they closed the breakfast down on our last day at least 5 minutes early, but it really is my fault for cutting it so close haha!
We didn't have time to use the other amenities, like the pool or workout room, but they looked very well maintained and clean."
