"I was assigned to Room 333. However, when I returned to that room in the evening I found the pillow and curtain full of bugs. I tried calling the contact number above the reception desk, and got voicemail, and left a message. I did not receive any call back. I had to stay in my friend's room because mine was unusable.
I reported this issue at breakfast on Feb 21, and the person there said that this was a known issue because the room was next to the vines. In other words: they knew the room had bugs and they still knowingly put me in it."
"The security staff was great. That’s about all I can say about the property. The pictures are a poor representation of what you actually get. The bathroom is covered in lime and rust. I’m sure from the water quality. Sheets yellowed again I’m sure from the water quality. During our stay the hotel ran out of water. The restaurant is over priced, it stinks, and it’s out dated. The other positive thing is that it is close to the ferry and close to downtown. "
"Stay at this property for a week and would not recommend to anybody. Day 2 my partner and I experience a bug infestation. Our whole week stay we didn’t have any tv to watch. No restaurant on the premises like they claim they have. Soda machine down. Light switch controls all the electricity tv outlets etc. No hot water. Doors coming off hinges. Was not a very pleasant stay for my partner and I. "
"This place is definitely not a 4 star resort. The good things about the resort are they had beautiful grounds, the pools and beach area were nice, live entertainment at night, comfortable beds, local vendors selling stuff by the restaurant and balconies. We stayed a total of 6 days, not once was our room cleaned. I called down to the front desk and was informed that they don't clean the rooms but could bring us towel. The sand in the Virgin Islands is beautiful but it will end up everywhere, all over your clothes, belongings and eventually even trying to be careful in your bed. It was hard to sleep because I could feel the sand on the sheets. The walls were super thin, we could hear everything our neighbors were doing. My sister and her husband had to be moved because their room smelled like mold. The second room also smelled like mold and they wouldn't move them again because they said they had no other rooms. They claimed it was the cleaning products that smelled like that which definitely wasn't true. We took pictures of mold growing in the bathroom. The fan in the bathrooms didn't work. They will give you a ride in golf carts instead of walking up the hills, except they drive very fast. A golf cart full of people flipped over during our stay. When you first check in they try to convince you to sit through a 90 minute presentation. The Virgin Islands were beautiful and we definitely will go back, but won't be staying here ever again. "
"Room was clean. However check in process was very inconvenient. Please make sure you call after your booking to make sure that you have a full stay. When we arrived we were told we had a “room change” reservation bc they are a timeshare location. We checked in at 3pm on Friday. We had to check out at 10am on Saturday only to be rechecked in to a new room AFTER 3pm on Saturday. We were traveling with a small child thankfully we made it work but it was very inconvenient. Also checkout is at 10am which is pretty early considering most of the flights did not leave out until after 4pm. Overall would not stay at this location again it was also very far out from downtown located literally on top of a hill so walking anywhere was out of the question. We had to taxi everywhere which was expensive. If you plan to go to this location make sure you do your research & plan accordingly "
"We enjoyed our stay at the Mafolie Hotel in February 2026!! The pool was lovely and the view from the pool and restaurant was absolutely stunning!!! The staff was the best ever!! The front desk staff, cleaning staff and restaurant staff are all incredible - so friendly & extremely hard working and they made our visit extra memorable! The restaurant was terrific and we highly recommend! Free breakfast to start the day could not be beat! Dinner with a view was spectacular!
The only issues we had were: our room was completely interior and we missed having natural light and any type of view would have been appreciated (not that we spent too much time there!) as well, the good thing is that this hotel is on a mountain and has the best view ever and the bad thing is that it is on a mountain and you must take a taxi everywhere!!!! Walking on the minimal shoulder of the road is not recommended!!! We had expected to do some walking to local attractions and that was not possible (disappointing.)
All in all, a wonderful hotel that I would recommend for its charm, cleanliness and outstanding staff and hospitality!! "
"I had an ocean view from my room, and all of the pools had amazing views. The private Sugar Beach was an extraordinary asset to the overall trip to St. Thomas. In addition, the cost of taxis from the resort to Red Hook was very reasonable, and if using a rental car, the resort is located in an easy-to-access location."
"Beautiful view overlooking the ocean. Great dining choices for the several restaurants on property. Nice pools and beautiful beach! Wonderful staff! I couldn’t ask for a better experience!"
