Nice, convenient, close to Alton Towers, a good affordable base
Although the property required updating and attention, the staff were very helpful and caring.
My mum took ill during our stay and the staff were amazing and helpful.
A great team in a hotel with so much potential and quiet surroundings. Very peaceful 😌
The hotel is going through updating, the swimming pool was ok, the room was very dated, the bath panel was broken but all we wanted was a bed for 1 night.
When we left one if the updated rooms was open and I must say they looked beautiful.
When this hotel is finished I'm quite sure it will be of good standard.

The tv in the room didnt work and they don't do food had to order a takeaway. Nice pub next door. Just need a refurbishment and food putting on. It could be a really nice hotel once the work has been done.

Hotel is very dated but the bed and room were clean. Tv didn’t work but reported on checking out.
You get what you pay for and the rooms were cheap so I couldn’t have any complaints. Just used it for a base for Alton towers
the hotel has recently changed hands and so is in somewhat a state of flux and thus in need of improvement. Likewise the buildings are in need of repair. My room was clean and tidy, though without air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year took some time to cool down to allow sleep. I wasn't prepared with a costume in order to enjoy the pool. The barman was helpful and chatty and the abbot ale was welcome. It was, for the price paid, perfectly reasonable value for money.
I hope the new owners will make the necessary investments and see the clientele return in numbers and as the quiet location is very good.

Wanted to cancel due to a *********** & *******- contacted hotel via Expedia requesting consideration for a non-refundable room refund - my message was ignored by hotel and have not had a response from hotel despite Expedia requesting feedback on our stay - disappointed with service from both parties.
I paid £55 for family room, apparently other rooms start at £35. I didn’t need the family room but surprisingly it was all that they had left. The Hotel is undergoing some much needed refurbishment, everything about the hotel is dated, and either worn out or broken. The carpets were thread bear in places and had tape over some of the larger holes. The floors were very uneven to walk over.
The furniture was very dated. The bedroom door was just a lightweight internal door, and not a fire rated door
My bathroom was tiny, if you sat on the WC your legs touched the bath and the opposite wall. My bathroom had a bath not a shower, they wasn’t even a shower attachment on the bath taps so you couldn’t wash your hair. If you tried to lay down in the bath, you had to be very careful not to bump your head as the end of the bath was a few inches under the adjacent sink. There was also a disgusting towel on the back of the bathroom door (looked like it had used instead of toilet paper).
The reception staff were unhelpful, my TV remote had no batteries, so I asked for some and was told that someone had just asked for some and we’ve run out. The TV has buttons, just use them! In fact the TV only had one button and that was the on/off button. When pressed it turned to a HDMI Input, so was no use at all.
I must say that the Bar staff were helpful and friendly. I asked about food and was told that the kitchen was closed due to refurbishment, but they had leaflets for takeaways that delivered.
