"Hotel Grimsborgir is located near the kerid crater. It was my intention to visit the crater as soon as it opened in the morning, but I got a little impatient and couldn’t wait (it didn’t open until 10 am). That’s on me, though, for being the way that I am. The location is perfect for those who are traveling along the Golden circle and wish to further explore the area. There is also a lookout/view point nearby that overlooks the river, along with a beautiful view of the hills and beyond. It is absolutely worth the stop. I wish I had booked more than one night at this hotel. The rooms are situated in small buildings, around a loop, with every room/apartment getting a beautiful view, regardless of which direction it faces. The biggest bonus for me was that the bed was absolutely, amazingly comfortable! Traveling around Europe for the past few years, I always dread how firm the beds will be as they tend to be on the very firm side throughout Europe. The bed had the perfect amount of firmness and fluffy cloudiness and I slept wonderfully! The room came with a wonderful bathroom that included a nice-sized shower. The only negative here is that the shower curtain could use to be a bit heavier to prevent it from attacking you while showering. This, of course, only happens when you take a hot shower and it’s colder outside the shower than in. I just happen to be one of those females who takes a shower the temperature of hades… (I write too much and it got cut off. )"

"We got there bit earlier than we expected, about 30 mins before reception normally opens. So I called the number on the door and someone showed up within 5 mins! (Thank you so much for flexibility! )The room was spacious, enough for us (2 adults and 2 kids). There is a gas station/convenience store in the same parking lot, so that was convenient too. We stayed for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay here. This place also comes with a beautiful view."

"This is a great hotel for a stay in Selfoss. Easy to find beautiful location and the dining area is beautiful over looking the river. Do not expect large beds we had 2 twins that were pushed together but very comfortable. Very quiet did not hear any noise in the room. "

"At the reception the lady was super helpful. The rooms are clean. The proximity to the falls is a bonus. Only if they had a microwave in the hotel. It forces budget travellers to eat at the restaurant. "

"It was really a magical experience! The woods were like an old European forest and provided plenty of privacy. There was a short hike to get to the bubble though so pack light. We did have a problem where the heat went out, and it was unable to be fixed until the next morning. That really put a damper on my wife's stay, but the hosts were gracious and allowed a partial refund. "
