"Lovely hotel, attentive and friendly staff, beautiful setting. The rooms are clean, spacious and food is served late. There is nothing but positives I can write about this hotel. Stunning and thanks to the team there that helped make my short stay so pleasant."

"Nice little hotel. The front staff were friendly and helpful. The room is small but functional and comfortable. It’s a good location if you want to enjoy central Bochum. We would stay again if we were ever to return to this area.

"Sauber und gemütlich. Alt eingesessenes Wirtshaus. Viele Einheimische kehren hier ein, was für das Restaurant spricht.
Speisen und Getränke von hoher Qualität.
Einzelzimmer fand ich etwas zu teuer, ist aber wohl darauf zurückzuführen, dass es ein Doppelzimmer ist. Einzelzimmer werden wohl nicht angeboten. Dusche / WC sehr neu und sauber. Frühstück i.O."

"I was at Haven, formerly Hotel Schmidt-Monique in Bochum for 8-days. I arrived 25-minutes before the “official” check-in time and was told I could check-in early for €20. Needless to say I waited the 25 minutes. The new owners are focussing on the hotel so the restaurant that was originally part of the hotel complex is currently closed. There are very few options for eating in the area of the hotel. There is a great bakery for coffee and something to eat in the morning, but it’s a little...

"Breakfast buffet was great!
One of the elevators was not working which made elevators in the morning a slog. You can use the emergency exit stairs, but be warned that they route you outside. The stairs near room X08 drop you fairly close to the front door. The other stairs send you to the loading dock on the back side. :)
Room could have used a bit more light at night, but was workable.
The step into / out of the shower is big! Americans be warned. :) Otherwise the shower was very nice. High flow. Good hot water.
We were there for Essen Spiel. There weren't great options for game playing tables. A friend was staying at the Garner IHG hotel in Bochum where the restaurant was welcoming to late night gaming and had good tables and good food/drink service."
"The property was conveniently located to the bus/train station. Within walking distance to many restaurants/bars and shopping. It was very noisy as there were groups of people getting off the busses ad 3am/4am yelling/chanting and waking us up. "

There are very few options for eating in the area of the hotel. There is a great bakery for coffee and something to eat in the morning, but it’s a little trickier if you’re looking for something later on in the day. It’s well situated in terms of catching a bus to get around town or to get to the train stations. That was very convenient. There was one staff member at the front desk that spoke English that was very helpful. The hotel does not have air-conditioning and Yusef found a fan to cool the air in my room. The room is spacious by European standards although the bathroom is very small and the space is very confined. If the hotel wanted to elevate the experience for guests, they could invest in better mattresses as the one I slept on felt like I was lying on the ground. They could also invest in higher quality toiletries in the bathroom. Because the restaurant is closed and access to other restaurants is limited, it would go along way with guest if the hotel had a coffee machine in the lobby for guests to have access to coffee, tea, espresso, etc. in the morning. A machine would not require any manpower(front desk is not staffed til later)"
"The room, the hotel, and the workers were all wonderful. Overall, it was a very good experience.
The only problem we had is nobody answered the phone when I tried to call ahead of time to ask about parking and check in. I tried several times in the days leading up to our stay. The email that they sent only gave —-@—- as the contact email, so that was of no use. "
