This hotel is very convenient for visiting the islands. It has a lovely pool and gardens. There is a beautiful lakeside walk into the centre. Most rooms overlook the lake.

Fabulous hotel with helpful and welcoming staff. Great views of Lake Maggiore and surrounding mountains especially from the rooftop terrace. Breakfast was a joy in the gorgeous dining room opened up to the outside terrace. Walk into Stresa town centre would be difficult for anyone with difficulties as it was almost 1 mile. For us it was a fantastic stroll along the lakefront promenade - what a vista! Ferry boats to the Borremean Islands and many places around Lake Maggiore go from the dock at Carciano which is just a few minutes walk from Hotel Royal. Perfect location. And we loved the vases filled with hydrangeas making the reception, bar and seating areas such a pleasure to sit and relax. Thanks to all for a lovely stay.

Lovely hotel, great location

What a lovely hotel, very close to the embarkation point for the Lake Maggiore islands and a 20 minute stroll along the shore into the heart of Stresa. Car parking available on site which was a must for us. Room was clean and bright with a balcony. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very good although the barman struggled with only a few customers and was quite curt.

Beautiful hotel, gorgeous plantings. Our room had view of the Lake and mountains, with balcony. Restaurant served excellent food. Parking was convenient. Easy walk to boat dock, transport to the Borromeo islands. Ask staff for boat discount pass.

Excellent, quiet location 250 ft from the lake and waterfront walkway promenade; away from the throngs of tourists and very walkable to train or “downtown”; convenient to Alybus to MXP. Amazing rooftop terrace views; nice pool on warm days; great breakfast with ample, large selection; friendly, professional hotel and dining staff. Spotless room and big bathroom. Only con was the “sit down” shower took getting used to. A small price to pay. Definitely would stay here again if in Stresa.

Lovely big room , superb service . Air Con in the room hardly worked . We had a bad storm and couldn’t go out changed our plans at 8pm the hotel couldn’t provide us with more than a sandwich which was a little disappointing. The breakfasts were fantastic and service in the breakfast room exceptional . The swimming pool was beautiful. A 20 minute walk into Stresa along the lake

This property is an excellent three-star one as in some aspects it is better than three-star. Firstly, the staff are lovely. They are very welcoming and helpful. They really make the place. Secondly, the hotel is well-maintained and has amenities and services that you usually don’t get with three-star hotels such as the pool and the option of dining there (we had one dinner and it was very good and reasonably priced). The hotel is family-run and I feel this shows in the overall ambience and slightly olde worlde feel (nice paintings and furniture; more interesting than a chain hotel). It’s only a 5- minute walk from the boats to the islands and 15 into the centre. Would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Stresa. It was fantastic and we got it for a very reasonable price on Expedia.

Very noisy due to the cleaning staff leaving doors open and talking loudly amongst themselves every day, plus thin walls. Very poor service in the dining room. Unfriendly, unhelpful. Good service by the professional bartender and terrace manager at the evening aperitivo service.
