Lovingly and sympathetically restored hotel just steps from railway station and very close to town. The staff were all very kind and helpful. The veggie breakfast was AMAZING!

The hotel is in an amazing listed building with many fascinating historic artifacts, conveniently located next to Taunton Railway Station and with excellent road access, the staff are all very friendly and helpful, the rooms are warm and well equipped.

hotel was very clean, staff very welcoming and helpful. room was spacious, clean and bed comfortable. my only issue was the pillows were very hard, but that is my personal choice I suppose, next time Ill bring my own. But over all a very comfortable stay

Well presented accommodation and facilities. Very good breakfast. Easy access to Taunton center and directly opposite railway station. Free parking on site. Comfortable bedroom.

Will stay again
Room/bed good size and very comfortable. Happy not to have fridge in each room to save power but would be good to have access to communal fridge storage of milk and water for tea coffee making in room as having shared bar/night porter/reception person makes service level lower. Disappointed that the breakfast options had been reduced since last year.

Fabulous, friendly staff. Stored our bags prior to check-in and then kindly carried them up to our room...which was huge. Well appointed and directly across from the train station. Location couldn't be better. Did I mention the friendly staff? 🙂

Friendly staff, hotel needs a refresh.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel felt deserted, reception not visible through the main door from the carpark. The carpets on the stairs and in the bedroom had seen better days. It felt more like a motel than a hotel

We knew there was no dining room, so we were prepared for that and I haven’t reduced the star rating. Everyone at the hotel was very welcoming and helpful, and small touches like fresh milk and a cafetière in the rooms enhanced the experience. The rooms were splendid with interesting decor and very comfortable. We stopped here for an overnight stay en route to Cornwall. I will definitely book here again for any future trips

Thank you very much Great Western for looking after us in your fabulous hotel. The room was beautifully decorated with quirky wallpaper and even GWR furnishings here and there, harking back to the building's past. It was clean, bright, and cosy. The staff looked after us really well, and answered any questions we had. Our breakfast was fantastic. My husband had the cooked English breakfast and I had your veggie option, which was delicious! Even though the hotel was next to the train station and our building actually faced the station, we heard not a peep from anyone or anything all night. Recommended!

It was not made obvious on booking this is a YMCA run building. The room was a lovely size but there were no eating facilities after 6pm. Some repair work in room was shoddy. Did not feel good value for money. Any complaints ensure you do while there. Hotel not interested after you leave.

Lovely Hotel
Lovely hotel; the staff were really friendly and helpful. Very convenient for Taunton town centre and the cricket ground with easy free parking. The breakfasts were great with plenty of choice. Will definitely visit again.

Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms
All staff were so friendly and efficient. An extremely well run hotel. Room was spacious and in good condition.so close to train station and only a 10minute walk into town. Love all the quirky references to GWR in room and communal rooms. It is nice to think we are helping a homeless charity by stopping here. This was our second stay at this hotel and will definitely be back.

Wonderful stay at this quaint and quirky hotel. The train station is the main theme running through this hotel. Very enjoyable will definitely return

Breakfast was great, room nicely decorated but an oddly small sink. Nice to have fresh coffee in the room. Nice staff. Good price. Not sure why my bacon brioche was served on a massive plate! Would prefer a mug for coffee at breakfast than a small cup without a saucer. Nice selection at breakfast.
