Nightmare
Nightmare started when I saw Cockroaches, first in the bathroom under toilet paper, then in the bedroom. Large and small. Old and dirty beds.

I like the fact that Santa Cruz is a real city where local people live and work and go to school, and not only for tourists; a good mix. I wanted to iron a shirt and was surprised to learn that they did not have a single iron anywhere in the hotel.

As advertised, the 8th floor apartment was clean and spacious with an incredible view from the large windows and the corner balcony. The four of us slept well in the queen bed and 2 single beds that we requested. The staff was especially helpful in assisting us with checking-in later than we had anticipated.

Value for money
Part of our stay I was on my own (husband in hospital) and I felt very comfortable and safe here. Everyone very friendly. Although furniture was very tired and on the small side it was very clean and the water always very hot. The fan on the ceiling hardly made a change as not much air gets into the room, an air conditioning unit would be perfect. But, for the price we paid we couldn’t really complain.

Not nice
Wifi not working. Window unusable as there was a disgusting canvas shade a few inches outside, which stank of smoke so strongly it filled the room. Hence zero ventilation and no aircon. Also no access to terrace as claimed. No fire safety information in the room. Very dodgy electrics, eg. Appliances requiring an earth fitted to two-pole sockets, RCDs rated at 220v rather than 230v. I know it's cheap, but just don't bother

Convenient but a little tired.
Conveniently located for walking to shops in the beautiful Tenerife capital. Hotel needs refurbishing. Everything worked ok. We stayed in January when temperature only 21’C but still found the room very hot despite having the window open. There was only a ceIling fan which was ineffective Temperature in Summer can get to 40’C so A/C essential. Bed was very hard. No toiletries- bring own. Wi-fi was useless even on roof terrace 100 m from a mobile phone tower. Download was 0.2 Mb and basically did not work. Staff friendly. Breakfast included was adequate but are plenty nearby cafes including a smart McDonalds

We were on the 5th floor and there was a lot of street noise that kept us up most of the night. Beds were not comfortable. No parking. No shampoo in the shower or cream rinse. Just a crummy place!!

Surprisingly good for modest price
I only booked Atlantico when I arrived in Santa Cruz, and it was the only hotel available in the centre. Although not 4 star, the hotel was very good for the modest price. The room was a good size, the breakfast, the open area on the 6th floor, and the wifi were all good. The location couldn't be better.

Cheap place, not very comfortable
Paper thin walls, no internet in room, no toiletries supplied. Nice area in centre of town, and breakfast on the roof terrace was good. Credit card machine didn't accept foreign (non-Euro) cards, had to pay in cash. Staff were friendly though.

Cheap and cheerful
Great location, amazing breakfast and friendly staff make this a good choice if you want to be in the centre of Santa Cruz at a very reasonable price. This is not a chain hotel and the rooms are quirky and not the height of fashion, but the space is good, shower was hot and powerful, bed could have been more comfortable but was fine for a couple of nights. The terrace on the eighth floor where breakfast is served is lovely and peaceful, there is free WiFi available here all day.

Nice hotel on a shopping street.
Nice hotel, clean and well decorated room and outside it. Staff were polite, helpful and spoke English. Roof top where breakfast is served has a good view. Hotel on a shopping street, restaurants, ferry, sightseeing bus point very close. €20 by taxi from the hotel to the South Airport. What l didn't like: No Wi-fi in rooms. The bed was very uncomfortable with an over used mattress. Wire or Springs sticking out and into the body. Felt back pain from 3 days of sleeping on it. I even had to turn the mattress over. It made no difference. I dreaded going to bed. Noise till very late from shopping street comes into the room.

Charming hotel in the heart of Santa Cruz
Hotel Atlantico is simple, no-frills city hotel at wonderful location in the main pedestrian street of Santa Cruz. I particularly liked the roof-top terrace on 8th floor of hotel with amazing views of the city and the Atlantic ocean. Lady who served breakfast was lovely and so sweet to all guests, she remembered what each guest preferred to eat and what kind of coffee guest likes. Hotel is definitely excellent value for money deal.

Hotel is in a very central part of Santa Cruz. No parking so a bit complicated if using a car. Wifi is free, but works at the top floor terrace only.

City Centre Value
A modest city centre hotel at a great price. Nice terrace on the roof for breakfast. I was given a compact double instead of just a single, pleased with that. I visited on marathon weekend (not that I ran it!): three minutes jog to the start line.

Central Santa Cruz
Very comfortable, central, and lovely staff. South-facing roof terrace for breakfast and open for reading all day. Only tables and chairs, though - not a place to sunbathe. Rooms facing the street can be noisy; mine was at the rear, and had no view - I couldn't even see daylight. The breakfast was disappointing - cheap white bread for toast, tinned fruit, carton orange juice and gluten-free yoghurt, although warm hard-boiled eggs were nice. Breakfast is served from 7.30 'til 10.00, and charming waitress service. Everyone was very quiet and respectful, mostly reading the papers. Most people seemed happy with the food, I should add. I had a lovely stay, and could smoke in the room if I wished. Santa Cruz doesn't attract British tourists - a few Germans, but mostly Spanish, and mostly singles at this hotel. A large single room with a double bed is a luxury. Cold drinks available from reception 24 hours, but no coffee-making facilities, so take a travel kettle if you need to. Overall, a lovely stay.

Staff was pleasant and the breakfast was generous. Good location, close to the port terminal, the bus terminal, and the trolley to La Laguna. The TV in my room made a high pitched noise, but I simply unplugged it.
