Home away from home

Our go to place in the centre of town, convenient to restaurants. Large rooms, good bathrooms, comfortable beds. Very quiet for a highway motel. We had two cars and there was room for us to park the second vehicle in the motel grounds.

Stayed at the Peter Allen Motel and honestly, it was exactly what you’d expect for the price—cheap, but it shows. The room felt old, tired, and not particularly clean. It definitely hasn’t had any love in a long time. While I wasn’t expecting luxury, the condition of the place made it a bit uncomfortable. I’m also surprised by some of the higher-rated reviews—it’s hard to see how this place earns anything more than a 4, let alone glowing praise. If you’re after basic and budget, it does the job. Just don’t expect much else.

the building was alright outside and inside the property was dirty. Windows were full of cobwebs, window sills and windows had never been cleaned and corners were all dirty. If the health department saw it they would close it down till it was cleaned up.

We understand the Motor Inn is by no means new, but looks very tired and unloved. Unkempt gardens, broken lighting fixtures within our room, very noisy air conditioning unit, were some things. A lick of paint and some bright newer furnishings would even help. The gentleman who booked us in was great and a seamless process.

The room was fairly clean, but the property is so neglected, there were plants in pots at the front entrance once, now just dead plants, not welcoming at all. There is an area behind the reception where staff and friends sit smoking , our room was number one and couldn't leave the door open as all you got was the smell of smoking. Plus on the sunday morning the tv in that area was on loud well before 7am, as well as loud chatter, no chance of a sleep in.
