Highliner Hotel

"The check in process was different. I never received an email or a text with my door code. Luckily, it was still within staff lobby hours but they weren’t the warmest or most helpful. I promise I never got the code, guys! The room itself was fine. Tiny but the bed was comfortable, it all looked clean, and it was a quiet area. It was fine for what we needed….a night before flying out in the morning. It’s walking distance to a great bakery, but not walkable to anything else."

Historic Anchorage Hotel

"I liked that it was an historical hotel. The young woman who checked us in seemed very new at her job, was very quiet and did not tell us or know answers to our basic questions. The evening clerk was very engaging and she gave us great recommendations for our evening meal which turned out great. There was no bellman to help with luggage, we had to take our luggage to our room and the thick carpet made rolling our suitcases a bit challenging. Thank goodness there was an elevator. The room was hot and they had opened windows and turned on portable fans. The fans were very dusty and not very appealing. Because it was so hot, at bedtime, we kept the windows open and the drapes, unfortunately the lights outside in area around the hotel were very bright and there were many of them. The bathroom was very small, the toilet was right by the bathroom door, no grab bars for safety in the shower. The breakfast was appetizing in the bar/dinning room and it was fun to chat with other folks staying there. The location was very central to downtown and lots of restaurants and fun things to look at. The trolley tour station was right across the street which was very convenient."
