For the true motorsport fan, the mere mention of the Brickyard will automatically set the pulse to FAST. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway gets its famous nickname from the yard of bricks that still indicates the starting line, part of the old brick track that has nostalgically been retained within the modern asphalt.

From dinosaurs to spaceships, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis will stimulate the imagination of children of all ages. Over 120,000 exhibits are arranged over five floors, with enough variety to keep the kids entertained for a full day.

Indianapolis is rightly proud of White River State Park, the only urban state park in Indiana, offering a wide variety of attractions and entertainment just a stone’s throw from the city centre. Take a walk along the banks of the White River to discover museums, art galleries, sports facilities, a world-class zoo and the largest IMAX cinema in the state.

A visit to Indianapolis Zoo will introduce you to over 300 species of animal in specially constructed biomes which replicate their unique habitats. Much more than just an animal park, the zoo also comprises an aquarium and botanical gardens, as well as a host of other attractions.

At first glance, Brown County State Park resembles the Great Smoky Mountains in miniature. Nearly 16,000 acres (6,500 hectares) of narrow ridges, misty ravines, lush gullies and rugged mountaintops make up Indiana’s largest parkland. Walk amid southern Indiana’s wild landscapes and see a remarkable range of tree species, which make this region popular for viewing colorful autumn foliage. Go hiking, biking and horseback riding on the park’s trails or drop a fishing line into one of the park’s two lakes.
