Things to do in Herdla

The Bryggen waterfront is located in the city of Bergen, on the western side of Norway. It’s a lively area where you can stroll along the water’s edge while enjoying fantastic views of colorful historical buildings and beautiful ships. Today Bryggen is the entertainment district on the waterfront in Bergen but its history dates back to the 11th century. The old wharf is an internationally protected heritage site thanks to its significance as a trading port for many centuries. The Hanseatic League occupied the site between the 14th and 16th centuries and their influence can still be seen today. Visit museums and craftsmen’s workshops and eat and drink in restaurants and bars.

The Torget Fishmarket is central to Bergen’s identity. Fishermen have sold the best of their daily catch here since the 12th century and the market still buzzes with the sound of trading today. Buy fresh fish or watch a cooked lunch be prepared for you.

Catch the Fløibanen Funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen for stunning views of Bergen. Look out across the city, mountain and beautiful fjords.

Within 8 minutes you can be out of the city and in the mountains around Bergen. Mount Fløyen is one of the most popular spots to go hiking and picnicking in summer and sledding and cross-country skiing in winter.
