2. Nyhavn

During the 17th century, Nyhavn (New Harbour) was a vibrant hub of commerce and trade. But as new generations of shipping outgrew its confines and demanded bigger and better-equipped harbours, the area sank into decline. By the early part of the 20th century the buildings along this once-prosperous waterfront were run-down and the seedy streets were notorious no-go areas. However, over recent decades the lovely old buildings have been given a new lease of life at the heart of a revitalised entertainment district.

One thing that hasn’t changed over the years are the beautiful buildings, many of them still in their original condition, reminding visitors of the rich heritage of one of Europe’s oldest zoos.
