1. Villa Tugendhat

2. Spilberk Castle

This striking landmark has operated as a seat for the Moravian margraves, a fortress and a Habsburg-era prison. Špilberk Castle dates back to the mid-1200s, when it was established by King Přemysl Otakar II. It looms over Brno’s Old Town from a hilltop surrounded by tree-lined gardens.

Špilberk Castle is a castle on the hilltop in Brno, Southern Moravia. Its construction began as early as the first half of the 13th century by the Přemyslid kings and complete by King Ottokar II of Bohemia.  From a major royal castle established around the mid-13th century, and the seat of the Moravian margraves in the mid-14th century, it was gradually turned into a huge baroque fortress considered the harshest prison in the Austro-Hungarian empire, and then into barracks. This prison had always been part of the Špilberk fortress.

3. Mikulov Castle

See the towers and spires of Mikulov Chateau (Zámek Mikulov) punctuating the skyline of the town of Mikulov like a castle from a fairy-tale movie. This Baroque masterpiece and former governor’s palace dates back to the mid-13th century. The noble Dietrichstein family took control in the 1500s. The structure was later refurbished following World War II bomb damage. Today Mikulov Castle is home to the Regional Museum of Mikulov.
