In search of socialism
A three week trip to Albania to include Christmas to see the old soviet style brutalist buildings before they are gone Nice hotel but the only surprise was a 100 Euro damage deposit that wasn’t on the listing and an 8 am check out in the morning Cure pet cat in the hotel and great breakfast every that keeps you going for the rest of the day

Dirty place not clean. Tv not working . Hidden price you have to pay 25 Euro every night extra. It seems to me they are stealing money through this property not managing the property. When I told them I am customer they said to me the rule is rule I said ok where is the swimming pool that shows on the website as there is no pool. Also. the door lock is not working I told the reception and they didn’t not fix it.

It was a horrible experience which makes me wonder Expidia and other sites are letting people to book this please which is completely scam nothing like the pictures a lot of charges upon arrival please do not book if you do not want to ruin your trip.

Very disappointing -do read
Very disappointing. Arrived to be told €50 (2 nights @ €25pp) for providing service. It was not mentioned at time of booking, but was highly in an email sent two hours before my arrival. I was flying in at that time! €100 deposit in CASH only, despite it saying credit cards accepted on the booking. Room was unlike pics, towels had holes, no toilet paper, soap or shampoo. I woke to find my bathroom flooded - even though I had only brushed my teeth the night before. There was no lift, whilst the breakfast room remained in darkness. Check out was by 8.00am or €35 per hour surcharge. The hotel was cheap, but that does not excuse poor standards or attempts to rip people off. One saving grace was the guy in reception (wore glasses), who I saw twice. He was more understanding and appeared sympathetic.

First under no circumstances were we told that we had to pay €150 on arrival for services and taxes. Second the first room that we checked into was stinking of cigarettes smoke, the lights not all worked, in the bathroom the shower door was broken and only had on door on it, water water would run out like a tap. We asked for a change of room and the reception offered the next room, on arrival the water heater was dripping water from both sides, one side onto the floor resulting in a puddle, the other side was dripping Into the hair dryer ( which we only noticed the next morning), the shower also didn’t work properly. As a result we asked to move again which the reception said there was no other rooms and that MAYBE in the morning there might be a chance as they were full. As the hotel seemed to be empty we decide to forget the trouble of talking again with reception as communication in English was very difficult as no one really seemed to speak English, as decided to check out that morning. No refund of car parking which I paid extra as a result of having to be crazy to drive in the city (seem at least eight crashes in 1 1/2 days) parking was only a space behind the building. All together can’t possibly rate this hotel as zero is not low enough. Don’t get me wrong, Albania is a beautiful and exciting country.

We booked a large family room that claimed to sleep 6, have 2 bathrooms, and at least 1 large bed and 2 smaller beds. When checking in, the concierge seemed extremely unhappy to be helping us. There was some confusion over the 12000 LEK cash deposit that was required. He sent us to our room, which was a tiny room with 1 bed. Not what we had asked for. We showed our confirmation number and what we had paid for. He sent us to another room after having to charge his phone for a bit. This was a larger room with still 1 bed and now an odd shaped couch. The air conditioning wasn’t working either. We called the property manager and were told they’d call us back. One of the men who worked there came to tell us he has another room. We told him the A/C wasn’t working and he said “yeah”. He then gave us another small room with 1 large bed and 1 small bed. Still not what we asked for but we needed a place to stay so we took it. The shower didn’t have a wall or curtain and there was simply a tiny, broken ledge. Water went everywhere. The door to the balcony had a large piece of broken glass missing on the outside. The man who gave us the room said “yes, but it’s on the outside”. Very unprofessional, with bad service, and no help whatsoever. It seemed like pulling teeth to even ask a question.

Absolutely awful!
I would not stay here again if you paid me to. First of all, I was told that my original booking here had been changed because they were fully booked, despite reserving and paying for my room over 2 months ago. I didn't find out about this until I was in the taxi they had booked to pick me up at the airport and the driver told me. The driver advised that the new hotel was close by, but when we arrived I discovered it was actually a 35 minute walk away from where I originally wanted to stay. They then had the nerve to try and charge me an extra €75!!!! I believe they were trying to rip me off because it was a late (midnight) check in and they thought inhad no other option but thankfully I did.

This place is run by a group of what can only be described as “scamsters” as they will try to take your money at every opportunity. Booked a triple room to stay with family. Allocated room had a broken shower so was given a temporary small room which also had a broken lock. The lock was the only thing they fixed. Had to stay with family in the smaller room for 5 days and they wouldn’t even refund the difference in room price. Not so much as a courtesy of apology. Also, come to find out later that they are massively overcharging customers for city tax. Govt prescribed rate per Expedia is 1.22 Euros per person per night. They charge 8 Euros per person per night. So what should have been ~18 Euros for us was instead 120 Euros. Checked in around midnight so we paid it initially to check in. When asked, they say we “fix the city tax and hey, you agreed and paid” Jaw dropped when they said that. All crooks and fraudsters. Avoid this place at all costs. Also, they advertise that this place has a pool but it’s at a different venue! Breakfast is very poor. Surprised as to how they are even in business. Over our time here, came across at least 7 angry staying residents fighting for something or the other at the reception. Location is the only plus to this place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Will save you money and won’t ruin your holiday

The worst hotel I have ever seen.
This is the worst hotel I have ever seen in my life. I would not give this hotel even one star!!! Never book a room here if you don't want to face all sorts of problems and bullying. If the owner of the hotel is a normal person, then he needs to fire the manager and Daniel from the reception. They do not respect customers at all and do everything so that no one stays in this unpleasant place.

I was not aware i had to pay a 100 euro deposit IN CASH. It took the property 36 hours to make the room AC work. Breakfast was adequate but items which should be warm were not. The adverising on Expedia is not accuate. The apparently nearby swimming pool is 2km away in a partner hotel.

Borderline scam. Would avoid at all costs.
This hotel is borderline scam. The location is great but there are serious issues with everything else: 1. Despite paying the price with taxes, they added more taxes 2. Adding the taxes and parking fees made the total price double in EUR 3. Despite calculating the price in EUR and me having EUR, they insisted their card machine only accepts the local currency, so they recalculated the amount to the local currency with 12%+ conversion charges 4. There was no blanket in the room. In the cold season with no heating it was very cold to sleep and the hotel did not provide a blanket despite the promises 5. the parking fits 3 cars but it is design in the way that everytime a car wants to leave, other cars have to move away. They woke me up every morning at around 8am to move the car because someone else wanted to leave. They would also call the guests to move the cars even though they are not in the hotel. This is a big inconvenience as you cannot leave the hotel without your car in the evening. 6. the hotel does not look like in the pictures.

Do be warned, once arriving at the property, you will be hit with a “council tax charge” of €8 per person, per night. Also, we paid for 3 meals per day, and were told we’d only be getting breakfast?? Alongside that, the staff were so rude and had a very “its not our problem” attitude. Upon eventually entering our room, we walk in to see the tv had been smashed… Seriously disappointed in this experience all round. Wouldn’t recommend

🚨 SCAM DO NOT STAY 🚨 Horrible place- NEVER stay here!!! - They insist on you paying a €100 deposit for the KEYS!! Which they do not return - They used a higher exchange rate, which worked out to be €118 instead. Absolute SCAM!!! - Do not book a taxi to the airport from them, the cars do not show up and they MAKE you PAY FOR IT!! - We almost missed the flight because of this!! Had to run to get a street taxi, which was also cheaper! - They FORCED us to pay the city tax TWICE! - Staff are overworked since we only saw one person on shift from night through to the morning - Very unfriendly, if you have any issues they do not help! Their English is also very poor, so it is hard to communicate. - If this isn’t enough to dissuade you from staying, their rooms are shockingly poor quality

I waited 2 hours at reception for my room, the beds in the room where comfy and clean but the walls had dirt on them and corners dusty! the window to the balcony was cracked and so was the air conditioning remote on the wall. the shower had no splash screen so by the time i finished having a shower the bathroom was flooded! The poor guy at reception did all he could to help but was very limited. BEWARE of the minibar in the room, the prices are an absolute joke! A soft drink that costs 50cent will cost you €4.50. Avoid at all cost! They also made me pay an an extra €4 per person for “taxes” even though the tax was included in the booking. Absolute JOKE! Its a shame places like this are allowed to operate, they should be shut down!

Horror story in Albania
Terrible fro start to finish. Staff rude and unfriendly. They ask for 100 EUR deposit when you check in. There was no toilet paper in the room and the minibar has crazy prices so don’t touch that. The boxed our car in so we missed our flight and the people working there are incompetent in every possible way. The rooms are horrible and the beds awfully bad. Please do yourself a favor and never stay there.

Horrible scam-like “hotel”
Was fully booked when we arrived even though we got confirmation that our booking went through. Was send to another hotel that couldn’t host us either. Then we were send to a third hotel far away from the first one with a dirty, nasty room. Hotels.com specifically noted that the price included all kinds of taxes or fees. Of course that wasn’t true, so we had to pay extra. Great way to keep tourists away the hotel industry. When we checked out the reception claimed that we drank some sodas from the fridge. We didn’t touch them but they wanted us to pay for them. Looks more like a scam than an actual hotel. Would never recommend anyone to stay there. Stay away please.

Please don’t book this Hotel. Unprofessional reception. They changed the location and brought us to a different property, not the one we booked. AC not in working condition. Problem with the lights. The reception was like bringing in people from the street. Not professional. Unfriendly.

When I arrived, despite having booked a room, they said they were full, and sent me across town to their other property. When I got there, they had no idea who I was, and sent me to a THIRD property. None of these people talked to each other and all were rude. I paid for parking at the front desk and they said the parking lot attendant will be notified. Nope. When I tried leaving the parking garage, the parking attendant had not been notified and wanted me to pay. I said I already paid. He told me to call the hotel because he was too lazy to call himself! What's up with this place?!

The hotel was great,the staff was very friendly ,the rooms were pretty good and the cleaning was great.The only problem I have with this hotel is I had to pay more than I was supposed they were too many charges,like city taxes and a charge for both me and my husband for staying in the room ,I did end up pay much more money for the room that I was supposed too,whoever reserves rooms at this hotel be aware that you are going to pay much more money for the room .Otherwise that is my only complaint.

I got there at 3 am. The guy said he has no room at this hotel, and he is sending me some where else. I got to the 2nd hotel only told to go to the 3rd hotel. at 4am I finally went to bed. The price I suppose to pay was 46 euros for 2 nights, by the time I got to 3rd hotel I had to pay 54 euros for 2 nights, because 'there are 4 euros per night city taxes' I was told.

The hotel itself is not bad, overall nice rooms. The location is somewhat sketchy, and pictures of the exterior are a bit deceiving. The staff working there is very hit or miss, some friendly, others rude, but overall I'd say all pretty clueless... On here it states that check-in is at noon, so I arranged transportation and arrived just about noon expecting to check-in and head out to explore the city. I show up at the desk asking to check-in and the person there just looks at me with this puzzled dumb look on his face saying "check-in is at 3PM". I'm standing there with all my luggage thinking maybe I screwed up and misread the hotel itinerary. So I ask if there's anything that he could do, if I could check in early? He just says no and that's that. So I was then forced to walk out and sit out front with all my bags for 3 hours waiting for check-in time effectively running plans for my entire afternoon... Also, I paid extra for the Full Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Next day after check-in I asked a (different individual) about it since no one mentioned anything, to which I was told 'the kitchen is broken'. Yes, those exact words came out of this person's mouth with this totally dumb look on his face. No, this wasn't a language barrier type of deal, there wasn't any confusion about what I asked, he was very clear... Confused, I asked him, "what do you mean the kitchen is broken?" To which I get told that there's no food available. No refund was offered and said nothing cou

Stranded in Albania... 🇦🇱 I was incredibly let down when I arrived to the VH Broadway Tirana Hotel in the early hours of this morning to find out that the room I had booked and paid for 3 weeks ago wasn't available. Despite letting them know weeks in advance of my arrival time, they registered me as a "no show" and gave my room to someone else. "We have 3 other hotels which I can give you for a good price", said the receptionist. I replied "No thanks, I've paid for this one through Expedia, they'll sort alternative accommodation out for me and deal with your management for giving my room away". I had no idea I'd be even more disappointed with Expedia. Then after 35 minutes on the phone to Expedia, they refused to provide me with alternative accommodation and said the best they can do is "try and get a refund". "Would you like to book another hotel through us sir?" asked the Expedia agent at 4 o'clock in the morning. "No I wouldn't, not now, and not ever. Why would I when this reservation was booked and paid for through you and I'm here after hours travel, no sleep, and stranded in a country I've never been to before?" I then proceeded to book a stay at a proper hotel directly through their website. After a 20 minute walk I arrived at the reception of The Hilton Garden Inn Tirana, and the kind professional gentleman at reception allowed me to check in, even though it was 5:30am. This is how it should be done!

First of all , when i went otel with my booking, at morning they said our otel is full and they manipulate me to go theirs another otel ( same owner) name was VH tirana otel , and albanian workers tried to extort money from everything they can do.. briefly i easily can say that dont go such as otel , and last of this their otel not 4 or 3 star their otel 2 star .. but everything is so easy to deceive customers in this counrty with little bribe to authority..
