The property is located right along Lake Superior and each room has a balcony that overlooks the lake. The property is somewhat older, but the owners are doing a lot of repairs. Our check-in was smooth and quick, the staff was very friendly, and coffee/hot chocolate/hot cider were available all day in a very nice sitting area. Although you have to drive to anyplace to eat, the location was close enough to towns that it wasn't a big issue. We also love Tofte and Grand Marais, so both were easy visits.

At one time this property may have been nice but it is run down now. It appears the owners are trying to get it back in shape it they are doing a pretty bad job of repairs use just what is needed to get by. Our tub/shower combo was dirty. We chose not to use them. All in all disappointing facility.

The Cliff Dweller is a lovely, clean place to stay while you enjoy the North Shore!

The rooms are right on Lake Superior & the view is amazing. The rooms were clean & comfortable. The only downside the bathroom fan was very very noisy & needs to be replaced.
