John Muir Lodge

John Muir Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"This is my third stay at the lodge. My boyfriend and I stay here to acclimate for a couple days prior to backpacking the Rae Lakes Loop out of Roads End. This is the best and closest option for us as it’s about an hours drive to the trailhead. The rooms are always nice and clean, with fresh bedding. There are no air conditioning up in the rooms but the weather is always favorable when we come in mid-late August so we just open the window and place the fan as close to it as possible. The beds never seem to be very comfortable and the pillows are way too soft, which is my main complaint. The bathroom was not perfectly clean, as I found a few stray hairs from a previous user. For the price, it could definitely be better. The staff was great though! The guy at the counter was extremely polite and helpful. On our second day the same guy came and checked in on us to see if we needed any fresh towels or supplies, as I had opted out of housekeeping during check in for our two day stay. While there is no continental breakfast, the lobby area offers coffee and tea, and a microwave. Board games and sitting areas are also present. The price reflects the convenience of being inside the national park so overall my experience is what I would expect. We will definitely be back!"

Sequoia Village

Sequoia Village

10/10 Excellent
"Recently stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is 4 miles from the base of Sequoia National Park. It's also conveniently located close to town with different restaurants, shops, etc to enjoy. The establishment had lots of perks (free laundry, game room, nice deck to sit out and lots of outdoor seating, as well as a trail along the water.) The rooms were clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were helpful from start to finish and were good at accommodating to two separate changes I needed to make to my stay. Parking onsite is free. The only cons were the bathrooms were small and the water pressure in the facility was not good. Price was pretty comparable to what I saw in the area. If I was in the area, I would come back for the customer service alone."

Silver City Mountain Resort

Silver City Mountain Resort

10/10 Excellent
"We booked this property after a horrible experience at another place and we absolutely loved it. It was beautiful and so picturesque, clean, stunning, and just wonderful. The host was very kind and friendly, & the restaurant had the most delicious food. We were very pleased with it. The only downside is that the road up there is very long and windy and lots of pot holes. Some areas are paved and others are not. It took us 1.5 hours to get there from Hwy 198. We were very nervous driving on it, but once we got to Silver City, everything was fantastic and some of the most pristine and beautiful scenery I've ever seen, especiallyif you go the end of the road past Silver City to the valley. It looks like Switzerland!"
