Doubletree by Hilton Abilene Downtown Convention Center
4/10 Poor
"Worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. The staff were rude, dismissive, busy talking to themselves, playing games or shopping online (not sure which). Breakfast buffet was cold dried out potatoes, gooey scrambled eggs, and half cooked bacon. Asked for some crisp bacon, which ticked off the waitress who finally brought some bacon that had been burned to a brittle inedible mess that disintegrated when touched. The waitresses were either dismissive and rude or smart-alecky including the restaurant manager. The room was clean but the room was inefficient, uncomfortable, and had one desk chair that was all. When I called to get a 2nd desk chair, they were not happy but got one eventually."
"We made a quick trip to Abilene to attend a graduation party. We requested an early chk-in, but when we arrived our room was not ready, so Maria, front desk manager, (soooo nice) quickly got us into another clean room!
We really liked everything about this property! It's VERY clean, comfy beds, quiet, and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast was great!
There are also several restaurants and a shopping mall that are all walking distance. We enjoyed the stay very much and will definitely stay here again when we're in Abilene.

"Sadly this big building is not in good repair.
The TV wouldn't turn on. No tables available for breakfast. So my kids stood with bowls of cereal.
Little black flies or gnats were all over our room.
No hand towels or rags in the room.
Open, unsecured wi-fi network.
No topsheet on the beds.
Overflowing trashcans in the courtyard."
"The room was damaged when we entered. The water was yellow that came out of the bathtub, there was white powder stuff all over the floor (big poisoning). The front desk was very kind and helpful. She was also apologetic. The cleaning staff was also kind. Everything about the room was just horrible. Also, there were mattresses all over the parking lot. For $250 a night, I am very disappointed! Don’t stay at this hotel!"
