"The staff was friendly, the room clean and the breakfast was outstanding for a hotel. Many choices both hot and cold. Sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy all cooked by the staff! Various pastries, cold cereal, juice, coffee and tea (including decaffeinated black tea which is my preference.) Huge restaurant style dining room."

"I booked the hotel based on the photos - liked the decor - and the fact it is located downtown. I named the hotel "the robot hotel", because there are no humans present, no front desk, etc. You do everything digitally, and use your phone to register, open all doors - in/out/room, and text or call for any needed assistance. I'm not gonna lie, I was annoyed that there are no luggage carts and there are steps to get into the property. I was already assigned to a room, first floor, which I hate - although it was a good thing as I had a large bag (two week trip to different temperature areas), and there is no elevator to the second floor. My in-room safe did not work, and I wasted time on the phone with the customer service person before giving that up. There is no ice machine, although they do leave a small bag of ice in the fridge at check in. The Melrose is cute, clean, hip, well -located, there is a fun outdoor patio area, a bar attached, and there is parking in a pay lot next door. Truthfully, it was a fun experiment, but give me a human on site."
