"Tiny room, not able to open 2 suitcases. Arrogant staff, overpriced beach services. Sun beds was made available fron 07.00-13.30 at 30 EUR and from 13.30-19.00 for 50 EUR. I.e. Not possible to rent for a day. Very few sun beds so this stay ay a mediocre hotel became very expensive. We were scammed in the restaurant, paid by card 120 EUR, after pin code they claimed that transaction did no go through, even though I showed it on the Mastercard app. Ended in a conflict, and I had to pay also...

"First of all, Kostas our host was a gem. His English is limited but that’s part of traveling, right? The room was clean and ready on our arrival and the bathroom had clearly been updated very recently. It had all the basics needed. The view from our outdoor terrace was idyllic. 10/10 Excellent

"We had an exceptional stay. The staff are friendly and attentive and make you feel incredibly welcome on this beautiful island. There is a light breakfast provided, we especially loved the local pastries. It is a small boutique hotel so it never feels busy. We enjoyed the pool as much as we could on our short stay which had a beautiful view of the coast. We wish we could have stayed a little longer to really relax at the property. If you have a vehicle this place is perfectly located so most attractions are within 10 minutes drive away."

"Our view here was 5 star! Our room & balcony was very clean…the maid worked extremely hard to keep all the volcanic dust off of the tile floors in the hallways and rooms. The location was good for walking around Pollonia. However we had cold showers for 3 out of the 5 nights stay. We notified the front office the first time. Apparently they have to flip a heater breaker for the water heater when the solar hot water runs out. The second time they had a new person and she didn’t know what to do but called on her cell for help. I waited an hour, but the water never got warm so I took another cold shower. I notified the regular reception person the next day and told her our flight would be early the next morning. She explained their solar water heater problem again and I was hoping she would make sure we had hot water. However she doesn’t arrive till later so we had cold showers the morning we were leaving again. Honestly this is such a simple fix…an automated switch can be put in so that a human doesn’t have to be present to get hot water to its hotel guests. I really liked this spot but other reviews mentioned the hot water problem. I wish we could have found another hotel with the wonderful water view."

Smaragdi Hotel

"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was lovely and had a comfortable bed and a great shower. Everything was very clean. We had our own seating area outside with a small pool to sit in, which was great to come back to after a long walk. Smaragdi is in Artemonas, away from the coast and right next to the main town of Apollonia. Both towns were lovely to have a wander through and there were enough restaurant nearby, although some were just opening up in May. You can walk to Apollonia in about 15 minutes. There is a lovely path through both towns and I would recommend using that as opposed to walking down the road, which we did the first time. There was a map of the area at the bus stop, showing a variety of short walks too. We choose a longer one that we found on Alltrails. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to everyone there for a great stay. Breakfast, which we had included, was fantastic and very substantial. Highly recommend."

"Breakfast was room service and was incredable. Angeliki was the best hostess we have ever seen. She was there at 8am till 10am and did anything you needed. She made our stay extremely comfortable and showed us all the features of the room. The patio and view of our personal pool was first class. Just incrediable. You will have a great stay guaranteed. Thanks for having us and wish we could have stayed longer."
