We were looking for an “off-tourist” spot since we flew in from nyc and were driving up to La fortuna. This was an absolute gem. Plenty space for kids to run/play, hot springs, gorgeous river stream. We only had one morning, but would’ve easily stayed for a couple nights if we didn’t have our next stop scheduled! Totally recommend this place - be prepared as this is more like a high-end “glamping”. Plenty beds and sleeping accommodations. Very respectful and accommodating staff.

Clean and comfortable

As soon as I mentioned to the front desk that I preferred to have a fridge a small one was delivered to my room. Room has a safe, desk, and comfortable clothing storage. Everything was clean and the cleaners available throughout the day. Unfortunately none of the rooms have windows that can be opened so there is always the a/c smell.

This beautiful location is a must!

Absolutely stunning property in the middle of the forest! This location is a must. You are surrounded by nature and all you hear day and night is the rushing of the river. Every single staff member there was very friendly and helpful. Cabins are spacious and include a kitchenette in them. Day activities were easy to schedule. Ziplining was fantastic here, highly recommended!

I really wanted to like this place way more than I actually did. We received a confirmation email the day before we were to arrive, but when we arrived, they had no space for us. They were apologetic, but it still left us in a huge bind late at night in the rain. We found another spot to stay for the night and returned the next day. They gave us a free dinner in exchange for the inconvenience. The space is lovely. The cabins are cozy. Everything is spotless. My main frustration is that they are not honest in their pricing. There are two different "menus." One for Costa Rican visitors and one for everyone else. I was charged $40 more for a massage. When I questioned it and pointed it out on the price list, there was considerable disagreement among the staff, which was awkward but still resulted in my paying more. The staff encouraged us to dine using the standard, typical "buffet" meal, indicating that it would be easier and less expensive after we reviewed the menu. The "buffet" price was not listed on the menu. When we went to pay, the server needed to check the price. When she returned, we were shocked at how exorbitant it was. We questioned whether it was correct. She apologized and said yes. Even though the space was lovely, we left feeling like we had been taken advantage of and disrespected.

If I had been paying less I would have given higher rating. But for the price I paid over New Years, it was not the best value. Cabins have tin roofs that are very loud when it rains, and without a solid structure and no windows, you can hear every sound from cabins next door. Still was charming and staff was very friendly.

Beautifully enjoyable and rustic

The area was beautiful, the amenities great and the cabin was very nice. There were a couple of things that made the stay less comfortable than it should have been. 1. There was not kleenex nor paper towels and the toilet paper was so thin it basically fell apart as you pulled it off the roll. It made any kind of wiping (either of body parts or of cleaning) hard to do. We did not want to use the towels/hand towels for those things - and did not have the number of towels we would have needed to do that anyway. 2. There were no top sheets on the beds, only a spread. There was one top sheet in the closet, but our son was with us, so we needed two. All in all it was a good place to stay and the area was great! Being from the US, we probably won't visit again because we like to experience different cultures and countries each time we vacation.

It's out there from the basic touristy stuff so you are not at the Ritz but that is what you come here for. To get away and live with the land. Experience Costa. Close enough to Blue Falls, which should be on everyone's list. Property is what you imagine living in the Jungle would be like. Hear the Monkeys in the morning. The river rushing through the property. Only negative was that me and some of my group wanted to do the zipline, canyoning experience and there was a miscommunication on how to make that happen and we missed out on that... book it right away so they can do what they need to do to make it happen... don't wait until the night before to book I guess. Not a big deal, you should just know if that is on your list so you don't miss out.

This location is in the middle of a forest at the end of a road. Very secluded, it is a local CR nature destination rather than a tourist area. We heard howler monkeys several mornings, saw an armadillo running by our cabin, & saw tons of hummingbirds. The hot springs are warm, at abt 100 deg F rather than Hot. The cool pools are crystal clear. Food in the restaurant is reasonable, good, plentiful & the breakfasts are outstanding. Due to its location it is probably better for someone with transport. The staff found us a local ride to get to a nearby, excellent butterfly garden & visit Venecia. It rained a lot while we visited, so be prepared for humidity! There's a YouTube video about their zipline & canyon activities. There are nets on windows & very few bugs. Lovely hammocks and chairs on the Morpho cabin porches. No utensils in the kitchens, but had a nice big frig.
