"The pool was closed and has been for some time as they are rebuilding it. This was not advertised when booking nor was it communicated to us afterwards. Bike hire and meals also need to be arranged the day before , again this wasn't communicated to us when booking or when speaking to the reception on the phone prior to arriving. It's a lovely village but I think it's not ok to advertise facilities that aren't available as this was a big reason why we chose it. I would definitely go again though...

In this case, the Monte do Zambujeiro offers little to lift his mood. Perhaps Jose Saramago would have found a kernel here with which he could identify the "real" Alentejo as he made his way to Portugal early in the post-Salazar times. "This was a magical experience! Know you are staying on a farm so it is not about squeaky cleanliness. The room was basic with 3 beds in one room and a couch but it was all we needed to enjoy this unique property with peacock males dancing and showing their plumage and the mothers exhibiting their babies. Preschool groups visited and the staff were amazing. I liked that they were protecting the animals while allowing close interaction. Make sure you get the breakfast! It is beautiful and you can...

"It was very clean, and a great location. Close to a beach, the castle and a short drive to Cabo San Vincent. Lots of restaurants within walking distance "

"The accommodation was reasonable for an overnight. A high ladder to climb with luggage. A gentleman, staff or owner, offered to help. The room and bathroom had no pleasant smell. A good available kitchen was great for preparing an evening snack and breakfast. Rate 8 for value for money."
