Vikos Aoos National Park
Located about 30 kilometers of Ioannina, this is is the largest National Park of the Greek mainland, with an area of 2.000 km2. Plenty of interconnecting footpaths of many levels of expertise that link stone villages tucked into folds of mountains.

'A river not as famed for its rapids, but rather for its beauty. It’s got that electric colour – in an almost unbelievable shade, that freezing water – constant temperature 4-8ºC, and some scenery to truly marvel at – a national park, actually, and we were told that trees cannot be cut or removed.'

Voidomatis river, a 215 kilometers length branch of Aoos river, is located in the prefecture of Ioannina in Epirus. It flows around Konitsa, in one of the most beautiful route crossings of Greece with its most spectacular view being the mountain scenery at Gorge Vikos. The area has been declared as a national park since 1973.
