The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center
8/10 Good
"The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The room had all of the amenities we needed for our one night stay. However, the sheets on the bed felt cheap and scratchy and the pillows are a bit flat. The shower is nice and the water pressure is strong, but the shower head is set too low on the wall for me and I am only 5'7". It is nice having a sink in the actual bathroom and a sink right outside the bathroom. The desk in the room is nice and big and there is plenty of seating in the room. It would have been nice to have had some built in USB chargers next to the bed. The air was cool and the air-conditioner worked well for the summer evening. The hotel is right on campus, so is super convenient to get to any of the on-campus buildings. It is also within an easy walk to a CVS and other stores. One issue we ran into was there were not enough EV chargers and the charging speed of these chargers was quite slow. When we got to the hotel at 10 p.m., both EV charging stations were being used. The charging vehicles used the charging stations all night so we were not able to charge our vehicle, which was pretty low by the time we got to Blacksburg. I dropped my daughter off at Freshman Orientation in the morning and by the time I got back to the hotel at 9 a.m. one of the stations was open. The charging stations were much slower than the Level 2 charger we have at our home. In the 2 hours we used the station, we only added 10% to the charge of the vehicle."
"The hotel lodge was n beautiful. Lodge room was old and outdated. Restaurant food was not great but you are held hostage up on the mountain. Food at the salt pond was dreadful. It was a fun experience but a one and done. Staff is friendly but communication is not good. After 2 nights finally realized maid service was
only on request. Never communicated. It was a memorable trip because of Dirty Dancing but will probably not return."
"I liked everything about it the rooms were good the refrigerator and microwave came in handy and the staff was very friendly and helpful I think I would stay there again"
