"If I could rate zero stars I would. When I checked into our room I had a cake and balloons to decorate the room for a birthday. We had FIVE people in our room that sleeps five!! That INCLUDED a five month old baby!! The front desk staff knocked on our door and proceeded to tell me that we would have to leave the hotel because they do not allow parties in the room. Mind you I traveled FOUR hours and only had the five of us in the room but because I had the audacity to bring balloons and a cake I would be “police escorted out” if I didn’t comply. After talking to management they claimed they would break their “own rule” and allow us to stay with a $600 hold on our room. I paid since we were so far from home and I knew we were NOT having a party. We were simply trying to surprise my niece with something special for her golden birthday! I was utterly shocked by the rudeness that management gave and for that I will NEVER stay here again. Also I called the Hampton and they said they would not only allow balloons and a cake but allow me to get into the room early to help with the surprise. It is unfortunate because the hotel was nice but this experience was absolutely horrible!"

"As 3 women traveling alone together our interaction with the man checking us in was horrible. I had called a few days prior (I called ten days before our trip) letting them know we might be taking 3 people not 2, and that we would need a cot, if available. I asked if there was any additional fees or if it was allowed at all. The man on the phone said it was fine, they didn’t have a cot available but to have us ask for extra bedding and pillows when we got there. We did when we checked in and the man who was checking us in got VERY passive aggressive and tried to tell me I was lying about what I was told on the phone he tells me there is a charge. He then tells me he charged my card for the extra person already when we were discussing this, but he didn’t tell me he was going to do that and was NOT authorized to do so by me at that point. He then tells me that actually we’re not allowed to have a third person, making us women feel very unsafe in the fact that after traveling all day that we might have to find another hotel after already paying for the hotel room there. Then he tells me he’ll just allow it. We ask if we can have extra bedding or a pillow or two then and he says no!!! So after all that ordeal and being charged another $40 unexpectedly we have to go to Walmart at 10pm and buy blankets just for my sister to sleep on the damn floor!!! We used to stay here all the time when it was the Best Western but we will NEVER be staying here again!!"

Sheraton Minneapolis West Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Hotel is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast at Atrium Bistro is ample and delicious. Beds are very comfortable. Pool and hot tub were enjoyed very much.Only problems were due to lack of infomation on jExpedia site and poor communication from Expedia to Sheraton. We made reservations for 4, but had to ask for bath linens for 2 and breakfast for 2, since only 2 were accounted for in our reservation. If you don't request vouchers for breakfast at the desk, breakfast is $21!! Amazing fee, especially for a "complimentry" breakfast. We asked, and received. Parking? Easy, but there is an additional nightly charge for parking. We did not expect this! Summary: Very nice place to stay. Research carefully, or you will have unwanted surprises. I've used Expedia a lot in the past and it normally works very, very well. The problems this time were an exception. I will be more cautious in the future."
