"Beautiful hotel, room was small but comfortable. Shower didn’t drain properly and shower head sprayed water everywhere. We really enjoyed the pool, breakfast was okay. One of our blankets had stains. Hotel associates were very kind. Riverwalk, stores and restaurants were nearby. A nice, quiet and calm hotel."

"The room had a lot of broken things. The lights next to the beds didn’t work. The hot water knob on the bathroom sink had water leaking from it whenever you turned it on. The toilet paper was cheap. I booked a room for 3 people with 2 beds but they only gave us 2 towels. The pool and hot tub were pretty dirty which I get West Texas winds and dirt so not sure they can help that. We had a charge to our room for breakfasts which we didn’t eat or charge to the room and have yet to get a call that it’s been corrected. Otherwise the hotel was pretty clean and staff were really nice. I just expected more from the Overton. I was going to Tech when it was being built and our family usually gets Airbnbs or we stay with friends and family when we go to Lubbock but we wanted to stay at the Overton for once and it was kind of disappointing."

"We had dirty sheets, floors were disgusting in hallways gross. Probably the dirtiest I’ve seen any building. Elevators slow and took forever and would close on you as you entered. Plus was close to everything and they let you check in early. The bed was made but made with dirty bloody sheets. Towels were hard as a rock - just couldn’t believe the overall care of the place."

"We were disappointed in the front desk staff and the valet staff. After our first night (at 9:00 am) we asked for fresh towels (spilled coffee) and another roll of toilet paper (only provided 1 and we were already out). They said it would be brought to us shortly. We left and came back about 2:00 pm. No towels...no toilet paper. Called front desk and they brought it. Later that day we were trying to rest in our room but they started sawing with a very loud saw next door to us. I know sometimes maintenance must be done but I guess it was just poor timing. When we were checking out I requested my car. Even got a message back saying the staff was hurrying to get it. We went outside and sate on the bench and waited. Valet staff never came over to see if we need assistance...they did not say anything to us at all. Finally after 20 minutes my husband walked over and asked about our car...they stated they did not know we needed it even thought we got the automated message that they were already getting it. Mind you it was not busy it was 7:00 am. They brought the car around and we left. We decided then that was our last stay at the Menger."

"We really enjoyed our stay. We loved the tortilla and guacamole classes. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s a beautiful property with a lot to do."
