The Inn is charming, but we stayed in the basement of the carriage house which is dark, cold and damp. The bed was uncomfortable. We will visit again because the property's nice, the staff is friendly, and the location is good. However, we will make sure we stay in the Inn next time.

Expected more for the price of this property. The heat went out and they did not fix it until the morning. It was a cold night and the staff didn’t seem concerned that we had a terribly cold night. The breakfast was basic. Will definitely not be returning.

Didn’t like that it was extremely noisy until 3 a.m. and that in the morning no one was at the desk so that I could tell them about it. I did call when I got home, but think that they could have been more sympathetic and understanding. I do understand that they said I should have called when it was happening but I didn’t realize that they have someone on call all night as this was our first visit there and we were not in the main house. We were in the barn, which I might add is lovely, and they did say that the main house and a small house that is between the main house and the barn is much quieter. Unfortunately that was not known by us either. I really think that they could’ve at least offered us a discounted rate for a future visit. Very poor public relations.

This is a beautiful Inn. The beds are very comfortable! We loved our room with a balcony and fireplace, we will definitely be back. ❤️

The staff and service were lovely. And the restaurant attached to the inn is excellent. However, for the cost, the room was tiny, oddly decorated, and had a very uncomfortable bed and pillows. The TV was placed in a spot that was hard to see for one of us because of the bed posts. And the bathroom was extremely tiny, with virtually nowhere to put any toiletries. The shower stall had black tile and no lighting so it was very dark. The very thin walls of the room made it so that you heard everything going on in the other rooms. Lastly, the continental breakfast felt skimpy considering the cost per night.

The inn was excellent except for the lighting in room 1. It was so dark it was like a cave even during the day. The bedside lamps were so low they were useless for reading. No one should be put in that room until the lighting is improved.

Very pretty grounds and building. Comfortable and clean. Great location to visit East Beach and Watch Hill. Unfortunately restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so can not rate. There was a tavern 2 min. down the road so that wasn't a big deal. The continental breakfast was nice to have to start the day. We went during perfect summer weather but I'm sure this Inn is lovely anytime of the year!

The photos on line don’t do this place justice. The inn is lovely, the restaurant was delicious and I found the staff lovely and very helpful. Would love to stay there again, and will definitely recommend to friends.

We absolutely loved our stay! just a few recommendations ... the view outside our window had wood crates, branches, pieces of wood and turned over chairs. Would also recommended the rooms to have an iron.

Excellent service and beautiful accommodations. The restaurant on premise offers a fantastic selection of delicious food, even for the continental breakfast. The location is ideal with complimentary shuttle service to the nearby beach. Early morning walks to the water are delightful.

Shelter Harbor Inn is simply a beautiful property, built around a huge sprawling 200 year old building. Going in the front door is like stepping back in time, but the property is immaculate. Our corner balcony room was spotless and cozy. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or receptive, the food and drink was excellent, and they offer several special packages that are great values.

Loved the shuttle to the beach and the inclusive breakfast. Restaurant on site was great but felt the food was good but not great and expensive. Also new refrigerator or coffee maker in room .

The room smells musty and tiny. The breakfast choices are very limited, and the butter wasn't even provided. Short staff definitely!

Hi. A nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood with wonderful staff. The walk to the harbor through the neighborhood was relaxing and what dreams of. a vacation home would be like. The breakfast was marginal though.

the staff go out of their way to make you happy. served us tea in the library..always asking what they can do more. Rooms are alittle small but adequate and clean. i wish there was a vanity in the bathroom. shower was nice. bed was comfortable.

Worth the trip
I enjoyed my quick stay at the Inn, I wish I had time to stay longer. Very friendly staff, the entire property is well kept and the room was clean and nicely decorated. My only complaint is that 2 of my 4 windows had blinds but no curtains which allowed the sunlight in. I would definitely go back!

The location and property were beautiful. The service to and from the beach was great, the driver was friendly and full of information. The other staff at the hotel (breakfast) was not as friendly and we had a hard time knowing if they were staff when we needed something. They seemed distracted. The coffee was empty, it took 45 minutes for a refill…fine. Totally understand a relaxed atmosphere but at no time did anyone say anything like — it’s coming or sorry for the wait. But the most disappointing part was our room. We were in the stable area — super cute and nicely redone but it STUNK of mold and mildew. We wondered if there had been a flood. We had to keep the window open for fresh air. But at night that kept the room chilly and there weren’t any extra blankets. Luckily, we had one in the car and we used that but it was disappointing considering the room wasn’t cheap. On top of that, our room looked out onto a pile of scrap wood and weeds so when we opened the window that was our view. Not pleasant. I feel that for some reason, we got the short end of the stick that weekend and it probably (hopefully) wasn’t the normal experience.

Way overpriced for what they offer. Breakfast was included and despite having a restaurant it was meager. Cold soggy quiche was the only fresh food. Service was not concierge level. For $400 a night expectations are high. This was a 2 star experience. Sorry to be so blunt but it could be so much better but service was marginal.

Shelter Harbor Inn was a pleasant surprise! This was our first time staying and we will definitely stay again. The inn was pretty on the outside and comfy on the inside. We were greeted with enthusiasm when we arrived and that friendliness from all the staff continued through our short stay. The room was comfortable and clean, the food at the restaurant was tasty and the bar area was pretty. The Inn is pretty convenient to everything we wanted to do while we were there. Really great was the shuttle that they have that brings you to and from a private beach! Fabulous! They even provided beach chairs and towels if needed. Give it a whirl, we think you’ll love it.
