"Lovely hotel right in the center of town. Staff were great. Room was quite large. Dinner was very good, but a little pricey. I arrived early and they let me nab a parking spot under the building. Be aware, parking space is tight (speaking as someone living in the US). Bed, bathroom, and general room decor/ambience were of a good quality. Bar / restaurant was popular. And..: I got a good nights sleep."

"The Hotel is a treat for the eyes and a great place to relax in the many rooms. A beautiful bar and a great breakfast kept us satisfied after a day of exploring the area. A super comfortable bed made our stay even better. The golf course looks beautiful and the hiking trails are interesting. Easy to park your car. The staff were helpful and very polite. Thank you Staley Hall for our stay."

"Location was good, amenities very good, the offsite room was slightly small for our two suitcases. When they say that parking is limited they are not wrong but it is also quite difficult to get into with a slightly bigger cast - especially for Australians already struggling with the parking in the UK 🙂. However we were lucky to find parking near the offsite room. Hotel itself is lovely and the dinner and breakfast very good. Staff were excellent."

"Appleby Castle is a special destination, steeped in history that you can experience first hand. Staff care deeply about the castle and we thoroughly enjoyed the piano playing during the meal and the history talk after. Having read some of the other reviews, we can’t say we experienced any of the negatives and thought Peter, Sally (and chef!) did a great job it being just them running the castle."

"Had a lovely stay in this lovely old building. I only dealt with one member of staff, but she was very nice and friendly and made us feel welcome. Breakfast is also very nice. Heating wasn’t working but we were supplied with a portable heater to make the room nice and cozy. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay "
