"Stayed here for two nights on a solo business visit. Clatskanie is a very small town, just a couple of restaurants, very pleasant location along the small Clatskanie river, near the Columbia.
Building itself is older and a standard sort of two-star motel. My room was recently renovated and had modern, pleasant furnishings in subdued greys, could have been any Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn out there. Clean, no complaints.
Everything was as expected: Fridge, microwave, toiletries, even housekeeping between nights, which most places don’t do any more. Bed very firm, which works fine for me. Modern AC unit which worked VERY well, even on a day over 90.
Old-style magnetic keycards which were easy to demagnetise (happened twice to me), and didn’t work on exterior doors at all.
Breakfast, well, it was there. Open early which is great. Meat-heavy, some kind of casserole, biscuits and gravy, sausage. If you’re not a ham eater, choices were limited to packaged muffins, bagged bread and bagels from walmart, stale cereal. Coffee was adequate and what you’d expect.
Customers mostly there for work, lots of work trucks in the parking lot, plenty of space. No kids at all. Signs apologizing for construction, but I didn’t hear any. Associated RV park also quiet.
Easy walk to the park and the small downtown area from trails behind the property.
Overall, I’d be happy come back if in the area for work and the price was right."
