The Capitol Hotel

"The only positive of this place would be the view of the capitol building. The building and rooms are out-dated, but the worst part was the maintenance. The hotel has a lot of issues with hotel card readers on the room doors, which do not work or reset after a day. I had to get a new room the first day because the key card couldn't be read, and then had to go down to the lobby repeatedly, to the key card reset. Other guests were having the same issue. The room that I had had an odd, moldy smell, which was the first thing I noticed. There were a couple stains on the old-looking carpet. The king bed mattress was old and uncomfortable. Half the light bulbs in the room were out. The tv was old and pre-streaming services, and old had cable. It looked like there was supposed to be a full-length mirror next to the room entrace, but it was missing. The bathroom was the worst part. There was mold on the ceiling and stains, possibly mold on the shower curtain. The sink was missing the part that pulls up the stopper, so you just had to reach in and pull the stopper out completely in order for the sink to drain. There was hair all on the walls of the bathtube and inside. There was a roll of toilet paper with like 6 squares on it, and the towels and wash clothes were the thinnest, cheapest towels I have ever seen. It was clear that neither the staff or management care about this hotel. It seems all that time and money went into hiring photographers to make it look good online..."

"Arrived and noticed a dirty bathroom (hair, urine on toilet) Asked to reclean bathroom and came back and bathroom was not cleaned. Staff was nice but did not do what they said they would do. For $150 a night, a clean bathroom is expected. Would book elsewhere."

"Everything was nice and clean. The staff was nice. The only exception upon checking I was not told that they were renovations being done. I was woken up at 8 AM in the morning with banging and drilling which it was an inconvenience to me otherwise, everything was fine."

"While the hotel was okay, our room had a broken air conditioning unit which created a large wet area on the rug. There were also issues with the toilet. So, having engineering in our room while we were trying to get ready for an event was not ideal. Housekeeping came in and did a nice job cleaning, however disregarded the dirty towels that were left in the tub and did not replenish towels, so we had to reuse wet/dirty towels. Breakfast buffet was very nice, though!"

"This was a disaster. Hotel is in very poor condition. We had no wifi or TV for a day and half. The pool which was reason for choosing this hotel was condemned by Board of health 6 months ago. No one came to clean our room until we asked on 2nd day. Some residents seemed like transient. Most of all staff at desk was totally useless, they made a note and nothing was done. A hotel in This state should not be open. We are requesting refund for lack of services."
