The Lion Hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Clearly recently decorated to a high standard the quality of materials used were also reflected in the way the bedrooms were furnished and clean crisp linen on comfortable beds

Overall not too bad

Our overall stay was great, however , we had issues with several things in the room, the shower door did not close, the lighting was extremely poor, the dispensers in the bathroom didn’t work and our kettle was filthy. The room was clean and newly refurbished and the tea and bottled water was plentiful. The breakfast was delicious.

Really liked the two chaps in charge nice menu room tiny no shelving in the bathroom to put stuff easily rectified surely very handy for town minutes away

Continental Breakfast

Our second time at the Minster Arms but a bit disappointed this time around. We didn't know breakfast was continental and left out side the room the night before, compared to a lovely full English cooked to order last time we stayed. Nice room, very comfy bed and Molton Brown toiletries, but we won't be rushing back.

Basic room very very basic. Bathroom good but toilet would benefit from a good dose of Harpic100 to remove stained limescale All carpets were worn and stained.

Disgusting. Filthy. Do not stay here

We stayed here to save a long journey home and back again after my fathers funeral. Check in was OK, the young bar staff did this. I asked when check out was and they said anytime between 8 and 11. Breakfast would be in a hamper outside the room left that night. We stayed in the bar for drinks and dinner which was fine. We went up to the room where I was delighted to see a beautiful roll top bath. Just what I needed after the day I had just had. The bath was filthy, with the previous occupants dirt and scum in it! The headboard was stained and so was the carpet. The breakfast hamper had stale croissants in. No butter or even a plate to eat them off. The cereal bowls were wet, no milk for the cereal. The whole place just felt grubby and shabby. When we went to check out, all the doors to the pub were locked. I was expecting to see a person to hand the key to and to give them feedback about our experience. The manager was meant to call me back and hasn't bothered. It seems as though they just dont care when you look at the reiews on trip advisor. I just wish that I had checked, but I was not in the right mindset when I booked!

Rooms looked stunning on the site but in reality they were not up to expectation. It had Sash windows that didn’t close properly, my room (lulworth cove) was on the main road and so noisey I had to sleep with ear plugs in. The bathroom might as well been a wet room as the water from shower just flooded over the shower tray onto the floor. The old fashioned style toilet system didn’t flush the toilet properly and had water running down the drop pipe. Breakfast wasn’t served until 8:00, so didn’t have that. The mattress was way too soft for my liking. Staff were friendly enough on arrival. I couldn’t see any on site parking that was listed on the Expedia listing , so parked in a nearby car park. So overall it was not my best experience for a night away on business.

the hotel was fine. What needs to be made clearer is that the car park is actually a Dorset Council run pay and display between 8am and 6pm. Also the hotel is on a busy junction in Wimborne and is noisy at the peak hours.

Trefor the manager was great. Very helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was bright and clean. The facilities were great. The bed was comfortable. The bar and restaurant were nice and I enjoyed the live music and quiz night.

Gorgeous hotel, lovely large room. Great facilities and lovely staff. Early awakening from washing machine and deliveries - understandable. Will be returning again.

Sorry to say this but we had a great room, suite I think, but the let down was the bed. The mattress was completely collapsed and we had a very uncomfortable night.

Family get together

Location poor due to traffic noise at night No Parking . The room was over looked by general public so had to keep curtains closed. Breakfast took a long time to come but was nice

First appearance was off putting, the building is old and in need of some 'curb appeal' and repainting. The room was very clean but very dark decor. The breakfast was excellent and staff friendly
