The hotel staff,especially Violet, went above and beyond to accommodate us and make our stay pleasant. Breakfast is cooked to order and extremely generous. Fresh fruit and variety of juices are available. Fields behind have a swan.

This was our first stop outside of London. We hit the jackpot right off the bat. The room was great, and the owner made sure we were comfortable. We had trouble with the heat (my fault, not the heater’s). Who knew you used a remote to control the heat. We were given a prompt, friendly lesson. In the morning we went to breakfast and we’re shown to a buffet with cold cuts, fresh fruit cereal etc., not bad. As we got to our table, we are given a menu with cooked to order options. Perhaps, our best breakfast of the next two weeks of travel. It may also have been our best stay.

Nice and quaint. Service in restaurant was very slow but waitresses were really good and explained the wait when we sat down and kept us informed so they were brilliant, however over and hour and a half to wait for 2 meals was unacceptable.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were tidy, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good with a good selection.

Stayed for one night only whilst travelling down the coast. Nice property, very convenient. Checkout however was a bit tricky as needed to leave very early, but reception was closed...

Friendly with good food
This was a pleasant stop over. Food was superb and staff very helpful and polite. The room was good but would have been better with a little more attention to detail. There were significant cobwebs behind the blind. The blind lowering chain also didnt work. The shower was powerful on cold but much less so on warm/hot. The matress provabky needed changing as a few springs could be felt. Overall a pleasant place to stay and is priced appropriately.

We had a great stay at Winchelsea Lodge, which proved an ideal place to stay for a trip to Rye. The staff were delightful; the room clean, cosy and highly suitable. Breakfast and food on the evening was excellent.

We only had a one night stay, as we were attending a family party close by. The room had everything we required, with a nice clean and comfortable bed. All the staff we encountered, in the reception and dining area were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was great, with a good variety of hot and cold food. We would definitely come back and for longer.

this was a last minute choice as our previous property cancelled on us. this was the better choice! great value for money, excellent breakfast included, very friendly staff and were very accommodating in safely securing our bikes. its not in the town centre, but that did not bother us as the place had a bar and excellent restaurant. Would recommend this as a place to stay in Winchelsea.

Not everyone will agree. But its honest
Check in easy The staff was welcoming. The room it self was a massive let down. It was a very hot day had all windows open but because its beside a busy road you get a lot of road noise. Asked reception for a fan in the room only to be told they dont have fans then to be told that the fans they did have went to others first. The room it self was below average when you compare it to a premier inn.It was very dusty and had bits falling down on my head in the shower . Seemed to be a problem with getting warm water to the shower. Lacking basic cleaning.Breakfast was ok maybe the best bit about this place. Shame.

A very pleasant two night stay. Dinner was good on our first night and breakfasts were quite adequate. It’s a pity that the chairs in the dining room are too low for the table height. Bedroom was very comfortable. The hotel generally appeared to be short of staff with one person doing everything.

Great welcome from Ollie and Lee, breakfast was usual (excellent!) standard and room comfortable & clean. The new beer garden is really taking shape and loved spending the evening socialising around the fire pit with other guests. Can’t rate the lodge highly enough - never disappoints!

Unfriendly owner, therefore we wouldn’t return.
The place is immaculate. The rooms are nice, warm and clean. The cleaners and receptionists are very friendly however, the owner is not. He ensured to avoid greeting us and avoided eye contact daily, yet he was chatty and friendly to all the other guests, interesting behaviour from him. Breakfast is available from 8-10 yet, we arrived at 9:00 and there wasn’t enough food to feed my family. We had to request they cook more food. The breakfast was cold although, there was a good variety to choose from. Vegetarian sausages would have been great too.
