"Lovely hotel, clean room, great amenities."

"We stayed in one part of the Grange , which needs refurbishing. Not the main hotel or even the main grange building. The curtains were old , the bathroom shower unit needs descaling. The bedroom wardrobe and other furniture looked old. No safe , insufficient hangers . The bed had a very plain white duvet cover , not even a cushion or runner with a bit of colour . The external door to the building and window sills were rotten and door wouldn’t close, it didn’t feel secure. We had dogs with us so appreciated that we couldn’t be in the main house but the photos on the website of a Grange Room did not look like our rooms . Very disappointing as it was a treat for my friend celebrating her milestone birthday which I’d mentioned to the hotel beforehand and had asked them to put some kind of birthday greeting in her room . There was nothing . On the plus side , the amenities were fine . Two bottles of hair/body cleanser . Plus soap added the following day . Tea/ coffee was provided and two individual biscuits on each day . The pet facilities were nice, a comfy dog bed and a large food bowl and we appreciated being in the ground floor . The grounds and main house were beautiful and even the Grange looked nice from the outside but not our building. However, the food each evening was very good, and the breakfast and the staff were lovely and helpful. We had a nice time but expected the accommodation to be a little bit more up to date. "

"Very nice hotel, close to railway station so ideal for me and without any noise. Stayed in a suite, very well laid out with plenty of room. My only negative comment would be one of the basins in the bathroom was stained which was a little visually off-putting, but no other concerns. "

"Hotel is nice. Room was a bit dated (curtains were dirty) and water didnt drain away properly in the sinks so looked like they were blocked. The location is good for buses and access to the centre but the area is very dark, full of homeless people and drug addicts/alcoholics and feels very unsafe at night time, especially for older people."

"I needed somewhere that was able to do late check-ins, as I had a long drive late at night to get there - this hotel appears to have round the clock reception, and it was no trouble arriving late at night (after 11pm) - hotel's own website claims 24/7 reception desk, which reassured me. Room was great except the window frame really needed replacing (old wooden frame with cracks and rots in several places, and a latch that was broken so window could not close firmly and leaked cold air from outside). Other than that, very clean, comfy bed, tv, even a small desk with plenty electrical sockets, wifi included, microwave oven, fridge, kettle, plates/cutlery/mugs, tea/coffee, en-suite bathroom with nice towels on warm radiator/towel rail and basic toiletries; on-site parking included in price... Ticked all my boxes for a brief stay for a meeting in Reading the next morning. Also very reasonably priced, in the region of 60 pounds for a mid-week stay. A good option which I may use again in future if I need to stay in Reading - would be plenty nice enough for a longer stay too if needed. They offer breakfast/meals also which I haven't tried - options seemed reasonable from the menu in the room."
