Good budget hotel in Downtown Yangon. Staff gave me a free upgrade to a room with a balcony when I asked so that was very nice of them. Can't comment on the breakfast as we cought an early morning flight. The room was small but looks like most properties in the area are small. The beds were comfy. No tea/ coffee or water. 25 STEEP stairs to hotel reception. Water from shower goes everywhere and no where really to put your clothes. Take a left out the door and you will see a few roadside tea houses. Turn right and the is a good vegetarian Indian resturant. Keep going and turn right at end of street and you will find a few little shops, street vendors and a 7/11. Take care when walking as it is a very busy area.
I stayed on this hostel for 4 days. My Yangon experience was fascinating. However, staying on this hostel is almost as living in hell. The person in charge (not so old lady) and the staffs were very unprofessional and unattended. They even don't speak proficient English (even the simple English they really don't understand) despite we, the guests were foreigners. They also forgot to replace the used bath towels into the new ones. THE WORST PART is on the 29th of April, a black out of electricity happened on this hostel. I asked the staff if what time the electricity will resume, she said its 10PM. When at exactly 10PM, the electricity didn't came back, then I asked the officer in charge if what time the electricity will resume, she said EITHER 12MN or 1AM. I slept for a while so sweaty from my 4th floor room (Room 307) then I asked the officer in charge of they don't have the generator considering they operating an hostel for foreigners. She barely answer me, apologizing me in worst English grammar. They were so idiot to handle that simple situation. Honestly I cussed them for their operations. She returned to me my 1 night fee (USD10) as a consolation for the inconvenience. Then they allowed me to stay in a larger room. 1AM arrived and still no electricity I asked the OIC in high pitched voice and expectedly she didn't gave me a reasonable answer and I grabbed her rechargeable power light and I closed the door with a strong sound. Thankfully that was my last night.
The staff were very helpful, on the day we checked out we had to get up early, and they did as well to make sure we could have breakfast. It is a family run hotel, and we did have the owners children playing in the hotel corridor, but this added to the friendly atmosphere.
My slightest wish for a certain type of basket had the Owner's father taking me searching within a local market. We found the basket up some ricketty stairs down a side lane. No tip for his time and effort would be accepted. Also I found the central location near the Sule Pagoda and within a very active area with many roadside Tea Rooms very atmospheric and great fun. The steep flight of stairs to reception had been concerning me but my taxi driver knew the Hotel and offered to take my case up before I asked.
This is a family run guesthouse and the people running it are very kind, warm and accommodating. They went out of their way to help us, which we appreciated after arriving at the hotel late due to a flight delay.
Our triple room was clean with white sheets. We didn’t enjoy the toilet as it was very small and didn’t have a proper shower area. We had the chance to use another toilet after we checked out and that seemed fine.
Location was awesome. You are within walking distance to restaurants, markets, street food, shopping malls, etc.
She escort us at night To but à sim card and a whole afternoon to the local market To show us the ethnic stuff help us to buy and translate. Very friendly staff. I recommend it 100%.
