A lovely place to stay. From the minute we walked in wa we was made to feel welcome. The room was very clean and had a very comfortable king-size bed a a fabulous walkin shower. The food was amazing and the home made crumpets are out of this world.
Everything we needed for a couple of nights away with the kids. Great location to get up onto Dartmoor, excellent breakfast, and worth booking dinner for more good food (and some nice musical entertainment). The rooms are above the pub, so bear in mind it can get a little noisy but with reasonable opening hours, it’s nothing that would keep you up too late (or early!).
As a family of four with 2 teens and a big dog, it's difficult to find somewhere not over priced and a big enough space for us all. We stayed in a very spacious family room. Bathroom had a big drench shower and heated towel rail. Plenty of space for our dog's big bed! Ben and the other staff were very friendly and attentive, also accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was included and fantastic choice. We ate at the pub on the second night and the food really was fantastic and a good varied menu. Thanks for a great stay!
Bedroom number 2. Warm, clean, beautiful big shower. Cracking good breakfast. Bedrooms on first floor, no lift. It's a pub with rooms above, very pleasant atmosphere about the place and good service.
Booked this for business and disappointed that pub and restaurant closed on weds eve. Clearer messaging should advise this, no tv and it would appear i used all the broadband width as other guest in the morning said she couldnt get on, bed and pillows were very comfortable and breakfast at 9am opening was very tasty, not really a place for a business travellor
Double room, large bed. Room overlooking river. Good quality toiletries in newly refurbished shower room.
Tea and coffee making facilities. Good to have a radio and not a TV.
Entrance to room via an external stairway.
Very high quality food served at breakfast and evening time. Quiet haven in lovely area.
Stayed here for a weekend whilst visiting family. Rooms are brand new and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Unfortunately the bar was only open on the Saturday evening but we reserved a table in the garden and had a very pleasant evening with pizza, beer and wine. Rachel, our host could not have been more helpful!
An absolutely idyllic location to stay, although we didn’t get try the full menu. We had the wood fired pizza which was delicious. We were also treated to a session with local musician that come together regularly to practice. Massively talented musicians. Was an absolute pleasure to have experienced this little slice of heaven on earth.
The room was good, very clean. There was no maid service on either of the two days. It is room only no bed and breakfast available. Parking is behind the pub. The pub is only open on certain days for meals. we understand the chef was changing the menus.
The pub was closed so couldn't get a drink or food. Only told this once the refund stage had passed. The room was very clean, but did not have a television, desk or shower curtain.
Quite disappointed to find that the pub & restaurant are closed Monday - Wednesday. This wasn't on your website, they told me you have been notified of this.
It meant I had to find somewhere else to eat as the next nearest pub was also closed on a Monday as well as the local chip shop.
Also surprised that there wasn't a tv in the room, never had that before.
The room was clean and tidy and couldn’t really fault it in appearance , If you are after a nice clean room yeah it’s great , I would say tho could really do with a shower screen in the bathroom to be honest as it’s gets a bit wet from the shower spray , I was disappointed tho as when I booked the room above a pub I was expecting the pub to actually open which it didn’t in the whole 4 days , but it was in use every morning at 5am when I got woken by the baker using the pub kitchen for knocking up pizza dough, Not really what I wanted to be fair , There is a spar shop in the village and that’s about it nothing else seems to open , there’s 2 pubs and a chippy yet always closed , So to be totally honest if I had known that I was going to be woken up by noise underneath the room at 5 am till about 9 or so and wouldn’t be able to get a local dinner and drink i wouldn’t have booked to stay here, Was a real shame as not what I expected at all .
