This is a great hotel for your visit to Zermatt. Our rooms had a direct view of the Matterhorn which was incredible. The location is great. Close enough to the main street and lifts and far enough away to escape the noise of the busy area. The room was clean and well kept. The only thing that would have made the stay better is if we had access to an iron. It’s a great place and we’ll be back!!

Lovely stay!
We had a really nice stay at the Hotel Ambience, it had lovely staff (it was a small team as it was off-season, but they were really kind and helpful). The rooms were comfy, breakfast was great, and we really enjoyed having a relaxed drink on their terrace with a view of the Matterhorn.

I loved this hotel! I asked ahead of time for gluten free breakfast options and they purchased rolls especially for me. They also arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the train on the day we arrived. Our rooms had spectacular views of the Matterhorn with great balconies to relax in. They stored our suitcases on the last day so we were free to roam until train time. Great service, great hotel!

Loved it… terrific views of all the surrounding mountains and of course the Matterhorn.. small and cozy, but with all the services, still walking distance from downtown and the trains, and the staff very helpful with hiking suggestions and other recommendations.

Very pleasant and comfortable
Very much enjoyed our stay here. Very pleasant and very reasonably priced in the grand scheme of Zermatt. Breakfast is good and a conveniently located hotel within walking distance to the town centre and 5mins walk to the Sunegger lift.

Everything about this hotel, from check-in to departure was easy, uncomplicated and friendly. The staff were so welcoming, my room was cozy, and overlooking "The Matterhorn" Pet friendly, clean, and great location! I will not look elsewhere when I return!

Overall, it was a pleasant and beautiful stay. There was only one dissatisfaction with the manager on night duty on our first day. Who did not handle the hotel smoke alarm system issue well at first and blamed the guests without identifying actual root cause. Thanks to the men who assisted as we needed to rest early after a long day of traveling. Lovely receptionist on our check-in with amazing customer experience. Can’t recall her name.

Gem of a hotel with service and amenities better than your average 5 start hotel. Very simple / basic rooms, but fantastic staff, amazing breakfast, excellent 30minute slots booking system of the outside jacuzzi with view of the Matterhorn and the sauna so they are in fact private. Drinks served in the hot tub etc etc etc. Just really amazing. And location is good.

Hotel Ambiance is a gem in Zermatt. The property was outstanding, staff were warm and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel highly and will stay there again.

Property refused to work with us on a refund or allowing us to use even a fraction of the money we spent on a different day due to being unable to physically reach the hotel as it is in a car-free zone.

Good hotel within 15 mins walk to main market..!!
good hotel within 15 mins walks from the main market / train station. Room were good size and very clean. There was no air conditioning but the weather was cold during night. I wonder if it becomes too hot during summer season. Staff was very polite and cooperative.

Rude and unwelcoming treatment.
The hotel was very unwelcoming. We arrived at 2. Were told that the check-in time was 4pm, which was fine. Then was told that one of the rooms were ready. We could get that room, but had to pay an extra CHF 20. Never ever did a hotel ask for money for a room I had booked and was ready early. Then we were looking to top up on water. There was a bar area in the lobby which was empty and the bar was closed. I went to the tap at the bar and was filling a bottle when the lady from the reception came and started yelling, askin "what are you doing there". It was rude and impolite. The rest of the stay was okay. But the start was bad and can't recommend the hotel, given the way they treat guests.

Beautiful full view of Matterhorn from my room. Pleasant hotel decor and nice breakfast. Location about 15 minutes walk from train station. Dead fly and dead insect smushed on wall. Only ventilation was windows but lots of bugs. Bathroom small with glass door, no privacy. I completed arrival review on Expedia and mentioned cleanliness issue. Staff confronted me and complained that I left review instead of coming to them. My option is that quality control is hotel job not guest job. I did not like the confrontation.

The room has a great view of Matterhorn and this is the best thing. The room is modern and comfortable. The breakfast is good. Staff is nice and helpful. But it’s a bit up the hill so taking large baggage would be tiring. Can consider getting a taxi but be sure about the normal price as it can be a trap for tourists.

The breakfast buffet was delightful, and the hotel offered a bagged lunch for 8CHF, which was very convenient for a day of hiking. It was conveniently located - quiet, but a quick walk to anything in Zermatt.

Adorable & quaint hotel in a breathtaking location in Zermatt! Just a 1/2 mile walk to the main train station along cobblestone streets. The staff was lovely & the breakfast was the best we had in the many cities we visited in Switzerland. The views of the Matterhorn were just WOW. Our room was tiny but very nice, and the Jacuzzi with views of the Alps was a huge perk! We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed the location of the hotel. Quiet and easy to get to the areas we needed. A city map from TI is very helpful when you first get to Zermatt, as finding streets and short cuts can be difficult with out one. Rooms were very nice and comfortable. Enjoyed sitting on the deck outside our room. Breakfast each morning was delightful! We love the coffee machine, making coffee latte to expresso's. Would definitely recommend.

Highly recommend
Hotel Ambiance is nicely situated in Zermatt. Just an 8 - 10 minute walk to the Main Street and train station. Room was just the right amount of space for 2, very clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast included a nice selection of foods ranging from warm (eggs, sausage, potatoes) to cold foods (fruit, yogurt, cereals, meats). All this plus the accommodating and friendly staff made our stay memorable.

A great stay in a perfectly located hotel
Almost equidistant between the two main ski lifts & a short walk into the heart of Zermatt, Hotel Ambiance is in a great location & offers beautiful views of the Matterhorn. It is furnished to a high standard & the staff are very friendly & helpful. Breakfasts are great & the hot tub & spa perfect for after a day’s skiing or hiking. The superior rooms are particularly comfortable.

This hotel is Swiss perfection. The room was large, the bed was comfy, the shower was great and the access to the balcony was like a dream. The breakfast was a mix of eggs, meat and breads with other options also. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. The location can't be beat, it is up on a hill giving you amazing views of the city and the Matterhorn. It is in a quiet area, but very close to all the amenities of the city, a grocery a few steps down and plenty of restaurants. Will definitely stay here again.

The rooms were very clean and convenient to everything. The staff, especially Michele , was extremely helpful. They wanted to provide any assistance you needed . The breakfast was very good and very nice to have available before you started your day. The rooms are small but well planned and comfortable. The sauna and hot tub are an added bonus !! I would definitely recommend and would stay their again.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ambience. Hotel host is very friendly and the service is of top notch. Room with Matterhorn View is highly recommended, as the sunrise of Matterhorn is magnificent.
