"This hotel was very nice to stay. Convenient to be at the waterfront. Staff was very friendly. Only one thing that Shock me and it was very strange. Our room was cleaned up around noon. But and hour later it was redone and completely changed out."
"Pros: Room cooled off nicely, bed was comfy, shades kept things relatively dark.
Cons: Hoo boy. I booked the Jr. Jacuzzi "Suite" (it's a standard room) solely for the Jacuzzi. Upon check-in, I was told the jets were broken but would be fixed in a day or two. No problem, I can take/leave bubbles. The next day I went to use the Jacuzzi, sans jets, and found (steak?) bones of various sizes hanging out in there. I asked the front desk when it was last cleaned. I was told the filter was broken but would also be repaired. Must be a heavy duty filter to break down food waste. Eventually, things were purportedly fixed after two attempts on two separate days, but it never really felt "clean" and I was deprived of what I'd paid for for half my stay. No effort on management's part to make up for the loss of this feature.
Next, my wife works the night shift and I prefer the evenings as well, so we stay out late. I was surprised the first night when we returned to the hotel to find the front entry locked. We knocked to no avail. Eventually I was able to reach over and unlock the door from the adjacent roof. When I asked the next day what to do, I was told to call a number, or I could make the long trek down to the beach where that entrance was left open, then make the long trek back to the room. So, we called every night, listened to the phone ring inside, then made the long trek, occasionally passing by the night shift(?) sleeping on the stairs. There are better places to stay nearby."
"Our stay at Thompson Zihuatanejo on Playa La Ropa was exceptional from start to finish.
The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly suited to a relaxing beach escape. The pools are fantastic — peaceful, well maintained, and a wonderful place to spend the day soaking up the atmosphere.
The breakfast and dinners at the resort restaurant were a highlight of our stay. We especially appreciated the focus on fresh local produce and authentic regional dishes, all prepared with great quality and care.
What truly made the experience special was the staff. Every member of the team was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, creating the kind of hospitality that makes you want to return.
And the sunsets… evening walks along Playa La Ropa directly in front of the resort were simply magical. Watching the sun disappear over the bay with the waves rolling in was unforgettable.
A beautiful resort in one of Mexico’s most stunning beach locations — we would happily return."
"I first booked through Expedia and got an excellent deal. I wanted to extend my stay, I did but was more expensive. I liked the location of the hotel and the room I got, so I paid the extra. The problem when making reservations, you do not know what room you will get. The rooms on ground level might have great access to beach and pool, but most rooms are not private al all. When in the room you would need to draw your curtains. The first-floor rooms are a gamble, you might get a patio but if you do not, there is no privacy at all if you have a room facing the hallway. The staff is wonderful and make you feel at home. Breakfast included many options; If I go back, I will get the package, it is great. The rooms are basic but more than enough, do not expect luxury, only clean and comfortable with easy access to the beach. EVERY member of the staff is GREAT!"
"Location is beautiful and the rooms are large and spacious in most cases… In the air conditioning works well, as does the showers with her warm enough but not very hot. For the price it’s a good deal, but unfortunately their restaurant is only open during daylight hours and closes at 6 PM, with no close options. However, they have and will assist with delivery of dinners, arranging from pizza to hamburgers to tacos, which do you arrive about 45 minutes after the order and they are still hot. Was clean, the beach incredibly beautiful and spacious…. This is not a luxury hotel, but has everything you need to have a nice day with your family or if you are on your own. One of the staff, Adela, is bilingual and speaks Spanish and English, which will help in case you’re a Spanish is not up to snuff. The price is reasonable, as well. Fertilized in the area, if you’re a birder, is exciting, and you can walk expansive beaches for kilometers, day and night. Enjoy."
