Hoedjiesbaai - Dated but excellent views
The hotel is extremely dated but the sea facing rooms with the balcony have excellent views. This is a 2 star hotel and you pay for what you get. Therefore the hotel lived up to 2 star expectations with 5 star views
Best holiday I've had in a long time. The view from our spacious room is breath-taking. Lovely beach for walks and swimming. Hotel staff and locals are friendly. It was very hot sitting on the balcony of the second floor as there is no umbrella or a stand for an umbrella.

The service was okay, but I think the hotel needs a serious upgrade, the room was tidy but smelly.
When we entered the room a massive bad smell welcomed us.
Bed sheets and duvet was used by the previous GUESTS. We have covered the bed with our private beach towels in order not to get in touch with the bed.
Since we stayed there only one night from 22:00 to 7:30 in the morning we haven’t bothered to complain.
Through this kind of hotels you learn to valuate clean hotels.
My experience was very bad, I will not recommend anyone to attend as it looks rundown form the outside, and the place inside and outside has a terrible smell. The building looks dilapidated from the inside. We left a day earlier as we couldn't stand the smell anymore. There's nothing to do, nothing to see or to attract people... no pool, absolutely nothing.. was totally boring.

Room with a view
The setting is beautiful. Decor appropriate for sea side hotel. Bathroom needs proper clean especially shower. Carpets need replacing.
We loved our stay and our room. It was superb to sit on the balcony and be right at the sea

I enjoyed my stay
I stayed well and the people were warm. There was house first time but the second day I slept peacefully. The room matt/floor is too dirty. Either out times or clean it often
The room was sub standard and the bathroom walls were covered in mould. It stank like rotten fish.
To anyone thinking about visiting this area, I would recommend you drive pass this place

My stay was fair - only really used the room for showering and sleeping as we were at Tabakbaai for the entire weekend and only came to the hotel to shower and sleep. The bathroom kept flooding from the shower that I found a bit unpleasant as I nearly slipped on two ocassions.

The stay at the hotel was not great there was no warm water on basin and they need to remove the mats in the rooms due to insects .

Needs TLC
I was unaware of Wi-Fi availability. The smoking area was next to our room and smoke was constantly in our room and the smell unbearable. There was not a air conditioner in our room.

Hoedjiesbaai in Saldanha Bay
Went to Saldanha Bay for a night and booked rooms at the Hoedjiesbaai Hotel, didn't really know what to expect, however I wouldn't go back, as its basically a small fishing port with nothing much going for it. The hotel itself was quite disappointing as its old and run down. However the rooms were clean and the staff fairly helpful and the parking area has a security guard overnight, so if you just need a decent room then it will suffice. We weren't brave enough to try the restaurant so went to the Protea Hotel for dinner instead. We also didn't go the breakfast option which sounded expensive at 90 rand per head and instead drove to Paternoster and had brunch there instead - much nicer!
