The accommodations at de Bergkant were fantastic, the breakfast exceptional, and the staff/host really outstanding!
Hope to come back someday, and highly recommend it!
From the moment guests arrive at De Bergkant, they feel special. Even the parking lot is well thought out and pretty (as parking lots go). Tracey greeted us with ice tea from local rooibos plants and honey from local bees. Our room was clean, beautiful in a delightful way, and comfortable. The grounds were lovely and we took a dip in one of the pools before a delicious breakfast. It’s an impeccably designed property.
Beatiful rooms with lots of attention to detail from the dressing gowns to the wicker basket with pool towels. Great location within easy walking distance of all the galleries and restaurants.
Beautiful property located right in the centre of town. Lovely swimming pools, cosy rooms filled with antiques and the history of the town and South Africa. Restful nights sleep, wonderful home made breakfast in the morning. Friendly and welcoming hosts, will stay here again.
This property was absolutely lovely. The manager, who was a complete darling, greeted us with a wonderful tea and even had the lights turned on for our return to the room after dark. The breakfasts were delicious and they were served by very courteous staff. I would highly recommend this property.
Really enthusiastic manager made this stay particularly pleasing. The rooms are sparkling clean and reaching towards really award level. We must mention that after 30 years, no, 40 years, of world travel, the breakfast here warrants a large medal for quality, service with a smile and simply splendid choice of any kind of breakfast you could possibly want. Bravo, Chapeau!
After years back in De Bergkant. New owners provide for continuation in atmosphere, refinement of style, development to sustainability and all that with a cordial touch.
Wonderfully decorated spacious rooms together with an outstanding breakfast and perfect service make De Bergkant our home away from home in Prince Albert.
And the suggestions for places to have dinner proved to be in line with the quality expected!
We'll be back!
We had an amazing stay at the Bergkant Lodge! After a hearty welcome by the friendly owner, we were escorted to our wonderful room. The spacious bathroom and room was spotlessly clean and the underfloor heating and warm air-con ensured a pleasant night after a cold trip over the Swartberg pass in the snow!
The next morning after a walk in the garden we enjoyed a good boere breakfast. Our vehicle had safe parking on the premises. I highly recommend the Bergkant Lodge and will definitely re-visit them in the future.
Good value for money!
Property is more like a boutique hotel. Lovely grounds with a pool and loungers, plenty of secure parking, a breakfast restaurant with outdoor seating, very helpful hosts, and best of all, the lovely cat that runs the place! I am referring here to an actual tabby cat, which gives it a extra cozy feel because everyone knows that a house without a cat - isn’t a home. This is home only better, cleaner, and with well-kept garden and beautiful birds.
Very lovely hotel with amazing service! They went way overboard to be helpful and make us comfortable. We had a 7 week old baby with us and they could not have been kinder or more accommodating! Breakfast was also great with delicious local foods, jams, cheeses from a local dairy.
The guesthouse exceeded all expectations. An absolute gem, and a brilliant way to top our SA holiday.
From the genuine warm welcome, spacious well appointed rooms, great extra touches, beautiful gardens, willing staff and owners who went out of their way to make us feel welcome at their beautiful guesthouse.
The town is very relaxed, good food options, a variety of interesting things to do from wine tasting to art classes.
Only regret, not having enough time to spend two or three nights here.
Thank you and we will be back!
We went there to visit my rapidly aging parents who live in Huis Kweekvallei in Prince Albert. It is refreshing to go to an oasis like De Bergkant Lodge after an emotionally draining day, to rest and refresh in such tranquility! The atmosphere is serene and the rooms are very clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Management as well as the Staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. We have stayed in a few places in Prince Albert now, but De Bergkant Lodge is our favourite by far. The location of the Lodge is fantastic - near enough to anywhere, yet so quit and peaceful. We will defenately be back!
Immaculate and beautiful. Cannot be faulted. Beautiful tranquil setting, lovely rooms, exquisite attention to detail, super friendly staff and owners. Highly recommended.
