Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
Dirty and uncomfortable email to follow containing images and full update. Very disappointing.
Paid for the property on 2nd October. Confirmation received. Asked the property owner some questions, no response. Continued to message the owner for the following 2 months with no reply. Tried to call the number listed against the property and shockingly the number wasn’t in service. They didn’t even reply to HomeAways 48 hour contact notice. Now we’re going through the refund process which can take up to a month. Absolute joke. Should be removed from this site.
The location is the only positive point for this apartment.
Parking not available due to previous tenants taking permit home with them. Laura and Gary from Newcastle boutique apartments who represent this apartment told me to park at a local car park and they would reimburse the costs. After checking out, all communications ceased and a payment was not made. As other reviews have mentioned, the apartment and the managing of are below par. If you just want to have a cheap night out in town with mates and don't mind a run down property with a bit of noise, at the right price, this plane may do. Anything else, I would avoid.
No locks on doors, no toiletries, very dirty kitchen appliances, very tatty furniture.
I would strongly suggest avoiding any apartment managed by Newcastle Boutique Apartments.

The checking was more difficult than it needed to be. The location was great. The loft was very sparse.

On the positive side we really enjoyed the view from this property, the spacious rooms and the central location. We found check in stressful as we didn’t receive the door code until after we’d arrived at the property despite having let them know our time of arrival. We didn’t find communication easy as we tended to get an automated reply that didn’t address the questions we had asked. The washing machine didn’t work. We sent a txt to notify them but did not receive any acknowledgement of the txt.
Apartment was excellent, when we eventually got in.
Spent 4hrs driving around Newcastle trying to find the place, no one knew where it was.
Over 2 days no one would answer either of the two phone numbers we were given.
Was initially informed that we would receive a email 24hrs before arrival giving directions and access key numbers.
Spent over one hour with a Hotels.com rep. on the phone, whilst he tried to get alternative phone numbers and also directing me around Newcastle. I was totally lost!
Access to the apartment was for 3pm we eventually got in at 5.30pm.
To top this disaster, the manager/owner could not find the keys.
Again an excellent apartment but the organisation terrible.
Location is brilliant! Apartment was nice but not as clean as it could have been. Red hair in the shower, quilt was ripped and extremely worn, patch of paint missing in the shower ceiling, crumbs around the drawer areas in the kitchen, masses of cigarette butts on the balcony, mould around the bath, door handle missing on the second bedroom door so it couldn't be closed as we would have been locked in. Please check about the free parking as we got a penalty charge for illegally parking and I can only think this is because we used my partners car even though its registered at the same address.
We never got to the property we booked in Newcastle. We arranged to pick up the keys on time, and we told then, that we were staying not in Newcastle but miles away in Gateshead. We were told to follow a black car to another apartment. We looked at it as we had no choice so late in the day. It was terrible, with broken furniture, light fittings with no bulbs, filthy carpets and sofas, building work being done literally yards from the back door, and the whole flat reeked of cigarette smells. Nobody could possibly stay there.
We complained to 'an intermediary' on the phone, but in the end the company washed their hands of the business, we were left deserted in an underground car park somewhere in Gateshead at 5.30 pm. We were forced to drive home to Suffolk.
The company that runs it never answers the phone or email. They are totally unscrupulous.
If you want to be deserted in a strange car park, book. If you value your family never stay at any of their properties.

Tired but OK
On arrival I found that there was no soap in either bathroom and very little toilet roll. Eventually someone brought me some, but this was sometime after I arrived. The TV remote stopped working on the first day and only half the hob rings worked on the cooker. The flat, whilst clean, was tired and there was a water leak stain on the ceiling of one of the bedrooms. One bedroom window was screwed shut with a metal bracket as the catch didn't work. The headboard, faux leather, was very worn and flaky. I would say it was OK, but I think a little more care attention to detail would help improve the experience. The location is good and there's a nice view of the river, for now, construction work may obscure this soon.

Excellent location 5 mins walk from train station & city centre/pubs/restaurants. Apartment was clean, tidy, spacious & relaxing. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT:-both bathrooms were a bit dull as a few lamps had blown, no hot water on arrival so this could have been switched on and ready for us arriving.
All in all we would come back and recommend this apartment to family and friends.
