AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Do not even give it a second.
This is the worst place we have ever stayed in during our many trips to Watamu. This is not a 4-star hotel, it's a 2-stars at best. The management is completely absent, leaving the front desk and restaurant staff to have no direction and oversight. We booked a seaview hotel room and woke up the next morning to a view of another building. After complaining about this, we were moved to a seaview room. Little did we know, the hotel is also party central and our new room was directly above the pool bar area where they played music at full volume two nights in a row, the second night until 2:30am. When we asked reception staff at around midnight if they could turn the volume down, the answer was that there is nothing they can do. The quality of the food the hotels offers is sub-standard and has nothing to do with a 4 star hotel. They offer only buffet meals and what they advertise is not actually served. The evening we arrived we were offered a choice of rice, mutton stew, lentils, potatoes, and fruit. I can't even talk about breakfast. Thankfully, we are familiar enough with Watamu so were confident in selecting other places to have our meals. This would be a disaster for any tourist coming for the first time to Kenya or just not as confident as solo travelers. The hotel's management is terrible, no communication, never around, and when you voice criticism - as we did at the end of our stay, he blamed the staff. Only positive: cleaning staff is great, especially Cornellius.
