Gangneung - Gangneung Gyeongpo Beach

Gyeongpo Beach is one of the best beaches in Korea during the summer. Gyeongpo is famous for being the largest beach on the East Coast, with the parasols lined up in the summer making it appear as if the beach was sprinkled with paint. If you haven't seen this spectacular sight, you haven't begun to explore Gangneung.

Gangneung - Anmok Beach

Gangneung Anmok Beach is also famous nationwide for its beautiful Coffee Street. The coastline is all connected, so if you drive along its length, you'll be able to see many tourist attractions all at once. If you visit the famous coffee shops on Gangneung Coffee Street, be sure to not only enjoy the unique taste and scent of the coffee, but also try the special desserts of each store.

Donghae - Chuam Suspension Bridge

Chuam Beach has both the only suspension bridge over the ocean in Korea and Chuam Chotdaebawi (Candlestick Rock), famous for its sunrise views. You can take wonderful pictures against the panorama of Chuam.

Sokcho - Yeonggeumjeong

Yeonggeumjeong Pavilion is so named because the sound of the waves hitting the stone wall is comparable to the melody of the geomungo, a traditional Korean instrument. It attracts many photographers as you can stand in the gazebo at the end of the cloud bridge on a rock facing the sea, experience a sea different from that found at the seawall, and enjoy the sunrise and sunset.

Yeongwol - Byeolmaro Observatory

Located at the peak of Bongnaesan Mountain, 799.8 m above sea level, this public observatory is excellent for observing the moon, planet, and stars, with an 80 cm diameter main telescope and several auxiliary telescopes. The name Byeolmaro means "a peaceful peak to see the stars." Along with the view of the stars, the night view of Yeongwol from the top of Bongnaesan Mountain is a worthwhile attraction.
